If we'd got a decent striker to partner Billy...

It tells me that the board allowed Clough to lumber us with garbage we couldn't move so had to find extra money for Adkins to waste.

So are you saying the board should have chosen the players to buy rather than the manager at the time?
The player wage bill won't even be over £5.5m now.

I would be surprised if it is much below that and not surprised if it's higher
Come the end of the season the ticket revenue will have exceeded that amount.

And hopefully the losses will be down from £8.6Million which they were in 2016. Who do you think funds that?

I'm saying the board gave Clough freedom he hadn't earned. 40 man squad! They have to take responsibility for that.

Would it make you happy if I say 'the money tree'?

A great way to stop making such a loss would be to get promoted.

So the board/Kevin McCabe DID back Clough with money, eh? Yes?

No, just tell me where the money is going to come from and how much. I've already proved the board has 1. Supported consecutive managers with funds to pay players and 2. Kevin McCabe has supported significant losses - £8.6Million in 2015 alone.

I agree, I think that was the idea of the board/Kevin McCabe when 1. they increased the wage bill for players under Adkins and 2. have given Chris Wilder a significant amount in this JTW to try to improve the squad.

But.......and this may surprise you........Kevin McCabe does NOT choose the player the manager buys, he does NOT pick the team, he does NOT apply the formation and tactics of the team and he does NOT score the fucking goals we need to win matches. Much as perhaps he wishes he did!

Oh bloody hell that's torn it.

Barney and Pommpey will be along any minute to agree with you that McCabe doesn't score enough goals and have another dog-with-a-bone rant about it.

When have I said they didn't? Never been my point at all. He was the wrong man to trust. Yet they let him do what he wanted. Big mistake and it cost us 2 years. It's hard to have any sympathy when they've made such mistakes.

Again, who covers the losses has never been my point at all.

They gave Adkins funds for wages but also sold Murphy who was our main hope and hard to replace. What we've spent this month isn't that much given the position we're in. It might be enough, but it might not.

So how much should we spend? As a conservative estimate, I said the board have committed to between £1M and £2M this month with fees and wages. Some say £2M+. We've added 4 players to the squad. How many League 1 teams have 1. spent more and 2. brought more players in?

Your consistent point has been to say spend more. You've not said how much though. I've pointed to the fact that the club has spent more, quite a lot more given our league position.

That money is over a longer period though, and if it wasn't their wages it would be somebody else's instead - now we've signed them we might not sign as many in the summer. Our rivals haven't done better than we have this window, so that's a positive. It doesn't necessarily mean we've done enough though.

I'd say we should have signed one more quality player regardless of cost within reason, whether on loan or permanent, possibly an attacking player instead of O'Shea. As it is I think only Carruthers is a quality signing and even he might not get in the team for a while.

Why? This is extra money we are spending

Probably depends on what league we are in?

There are never guarantees but we are top of the league and our competitors "haven't done better than we have". It might be enough, it may not be but what is enough? I would say getting 4 players in and spending as much if not more than most in our league demonstrates serious intent on behalf of the board and manager
I'd say we should have signed one more quality player

Like we did with John Brayford? £1.5Million on a quality player and nothing changed. Also, what if said player gets injured in his first game? Is it not prudent to spread your risk a little?
regardless of cost within reason

Perhaps you ought to re-read or re-phrase that. Or both??????

As said many times, player acquisition is down to the manager. I assume he asked for some money and a certain amount was approved. With what he got, he got 4 players. It could have been 1,2,3 or 5. His decision.

As August began 80 per cent on here were hoping wed make top ten again with an outside chance of a play off spot
10 per cent were optimistic wed get a play off no matter what
and 10 per cent said wed get relegated with CW

Well we cant get relegated now and look nailed on for at least a play off , so in many ways we are exceeding expectations even with losing to Fleetwood

So why are so many slagging us off for not winning in 3 games

dont get it at all

Okay. I'm going to say it.

I don't think Billy wants a class strike partner. And I think the reason Clarke has found it so difficult.

Surprisingly considering their difference in stature they have a very similar game and Billy hasn't really helped him.

That's not supposed to sound as much as a dig at billy as it does. Because when Billy knows he's the main man. He's the main man and scores loads and wouldn't want anyone else to lead our line. However I think when he feels this status is under threat he's not as much of a team player.

He wants someone that can do what he can't. A) be rapid or B) be a Monster in the air... That's why I'm quite happy with Hanson or Done as his partner.

It's because we've been dominating teams and it's just frustration from wilder that's filtering down to the fans, the manager is clearly frustrated...

That first half against gills was as good as I've ever seen us... but only 1 goal to show for it...... just my opinion..

we arent the first and wont be the last team to have frustrating games
over 50 years Ive lost count of the number of games weve dominated and lost

on the flip side we do occasionally sucker punch teams in games when weve been outplayed

and it will keep on happening as that is football
