Will Adkins be sacked if we lose tomorrow?

So why is McCabe telling us the Murphy money is spent? We have no net surplus. McCabe as much said so. We are living hand to mouth with no purchasing margin to dip into and according to him, we are being uplifted by him and HRH each year just to keep the books in the black.

So, gates at near on 20k, cup runs, cash from the playoffs, sale of players (at whatever price) advertising and merchandise.

But we still need millions to bale us out because apparently the wages of the players are too high.

Why did we lay that pitch? How much lost revenue in postponed games and fixture fuck ups has justified the spunking of one big large on a playing surface?

Makes no sense at all does it.

If we really are that tight up, why the fuck did we spend in excess of £1 million on a state of the art pitch in League 1. Surely any such outlay should have taken place once promotion to the Championship had been secured, because according to McCabe, that is the time when more serious investment will take place. Why spunk away a small fortune on the pitch rather than leave it for a couple of seasons and buy better players to play on that fancy pitch first?

There were pages and pages of posts regarding Kevin McCabe's comments to the press the other week. One of things that he referred to was how disappointing many of the players were that we had signed. He didn't say he was disappointed at signing them, more disappointed at their performances.

I think McCabe is placing a great deal of responsibility on those players who have failed this season.

It's for that reason I don't think Adkins will be sacked.

Just as important I hope this is Adkins view on the matter and he doesn't truly believe the spin that he keeps giving us.

Wages paid, saved, downed tools ,the board have done absolutely nothing JTW not interested, loans since zero. Why bother paying the scout or scouts are they window dressing just there to watch our under 21 team, fill the seats.
The board waved the white flag long before January. No money you are on your own. Who cares what the fans have to go through the owners don't have to listen to the other side of the city gloating. They fly in once and a while then off to their real business. The board they are just a group of part timers.

I have a feeling we'll win tomorrow, re-igniting our play off hopes.. And then lose on Saturday, and so it goes on.

We can't keep sacking managers. However we can't stick with one just because we need stability. It has to be the right man and though I'm all for keeping him at present, my doubts about him keep niggling away. He does very little to dispel them

Breaking news;the mighty sheffield united have tempted sir alex out of retirement & this squad wil be in premier league in next couple of years. ..........bullshit....sorry guys i honestly don't believe dynamo could promote us as we stand playerwise.............it's what's known as a transitional period & is going to take time

Had we stuck with Clough he would've wasted 600k on that donkey Michael Smith from Swindon - in addition to signing Conor Sammon - and then permanently this summer. And God knows what else he would've squandered the club's money on. No doubt he would've doubled his achievement by setting us back 4 years instead of just the 2 he already managed. We might have been better defensively, but we would've been terrible to watch and Clough's ego trip would've rolled on. Adkins might have disappointed and might need replacing, but thank God Clough's gone.
thought he wanted andy williams not michael smith

I used to work at the club and got told this in the summer. The two deals that were ready to be sealed were Andy Williams and Kyle Mcfadzean. Also got told by the same people that Sammon was signing weeks before this. I think these signings (and the others) would've improved us but they'd lost confidence after the previous summer's dealings. The wage packets of Coutts, Basham, Brayford, Cuveliar, Baxter, Hammond Sammon etc are far too high for a league one club imo. Billy took a substantial pay cut.
brayford took a paycut when he signed as well remember he even did an interview on it

He's got next season for me conditions are a top six spot all season and in touch with autos.

I wish Superman would fastforward time to next August (only he can do this) - hating this season even more than relegation 1981

I'll stick with speccy Nige for now

The players I was told he wanted were Michael Smith, Andy Williams (virtual done deal) and the Wes Foderingham from Swindon; Jake Buxton, Mason Bennett and Connor Sammon (done deal)t from Derby. And Kyle Mcfadzean from MK dons (virtual done deal).

A straight forward defeat no, a right hammering marred by pitch invasions and other crowd trouble possibly.

Clough's sides dont do hammerings so I suspect we will have a narrow defeat.

Don't know if it was you but quite a few of those names were posted on BM in a similar post some time ago. Not 100% but only Foderingham doesn't ring a bell.

Was we really trying to sign Andy Williams, now that is too good to be true.....

Interesting, so the same Board that agreed to sign these players & presumably sign the cheques to facilitate their arrival & agree to their contracts, is the same Board that subsequently "downed tools"?

The board delegated almost all control for transfers to Clough and Brannigan. They give a budget and the manager and MD go out and do it.Questions weren't asked until the end of season review. Its not an excuse, but there you are...

They can justify this by saying its being paid to support the pre existing "substantial" wage bill.

Adkins is practising his post-match interview now after another defeat..."Burton are there on merit...knew it wouldn't be an easy game...we started brightly and set the pace...we showed endeavour...take positives...on another day we'd have won...we showed endeavour...we move on...we showed endeavour..."

The board can't sack him. By sacking everybody else at the first chance and not backing Adkins in the transfer window, they've made it impossible to sack him without a major shitstorm. Truth is, he's been a disaster but the board have backed themselves into a corner. All they can really do is stroke a lucky cat, which is what McCabe does best to be fair.

And WHF is already drafting positives.......

I think the last black cat he saw was dragging the carcass of an albatross across cracks in the pavement and a mirror broke and sliced it in two.

Probably called the cat Turry.

No. I think he would be gone by now if they had a real intention to dismiss him.

I suspect he will have a free pass into next season provided we don't slip into the bottom half for longer than a week. I think that would be enough for the board to let him go. Sailing close to the wind at the moment.

Brayford is our most saleable item and Adkins didn't sign him. . . . .So expect the worst this summer.

Tomorrow is bad because I thinking burton for the 1st time come to bramall lane as favourites which is worrying because it was only few yrs ago in league cup they came as big minnows. I worry because Nigel clough of anyone will be massively motivated tomorrow to win & will know how to beat our fragile defence

So, are you aware if any month by month analysis of costs going out of the business (actual vs budget type reports) were carried out, or was it all left until the end of season review?

I find it hard to believe that management accounts weren't produced on a regular basis for two reasons. One is obviously that the club loses money and these losses have to be, at least in part, funded by the owners and two, SCMP rules require updated info on income and football expenditure on a regular basis. It's not difficult for them to assess the expenditure and see where their money was going.

Add to that if one faction has a more hands on approach to running the club, you'd think the other would show some interest.
