If we get into Europe

I mean it would be naive to think a season like this is gonna be our standard, so we should definitely treat it like something special. On the other hand, we have a young and exciting squad and should be able to finish top 12 in the Premier League regularly, with some peaks to place 6-10, so European football should be on the table once every 2-3 years imo.

If we do can we call it something other than a 'European Adventure' which the Wednesday fans do, it just sounds so fucking twee like we're all sat around discussing it at a tea party wearing bridesmaids dresses.
I suggest, 'The Crusade' but that's off the top of my head somebody can cup with something better than that I'm sure.

Not sure what to call it, but we need to find a way to collectively sing ‘We’re coming for you. Barcelona we’re coming for you’.

Hopefully it will be slightly less underwhelming than our neighbours soujourn which constituted a walkover victory against a side made up of plumbers, salesmen, newspaper boys and 1 startled old lady recruited from the local knitting circle, before being dumped out and crying cheat against the German equivalent of Blackburn Rovers.

How about we borrow the song title, the Journey of Destiny

And I mean if ........Are we going to bang on about it for the next thirty years to make out we are some sort of super club, or are we just going to have a great time?

What we'll do is get to the Quarter Final stage before going out credibly. Then we won't wear it like a badge of honour. "I remember us playing Kaiserslautern".

IF, then I'm only thinking about how much we will enjoy it if the games are played behind closed doors

I will be disappointed if we qualify and then have to play behind closed doors, but even so, this has been my dream since I started supported the Blades over 40 years ago. I was starting to think it would never happen in my lifetime and it just shows how quickly things can change in football when nearly 4 years ago, we were bottom of League 1!

That's a caution to anyone getting carried away thinking this will be a regular event. Let's hope so but let's also enjoy it while we can.

I’d rather we didn’t if we can’t go.
It's very tricky isn't it? All that trailing around to pre seasons in Malta & Portugal & others. Enjoying those. But, thinking, one day, one day, maybe, a competitive season in Europe. I remember strutting around telling all comers - if we get to Europe, I'm getting on a plane to the first game & then just traveling around Europe from away game to away game, I'll be back in England when we get knocked out.....
And now. The prospect of playing European games behind closed doors, with travel restrictions in place. I feel your pain GallonofMagnet

it’d be a bit tinpot to be going on about something that happened 30 years ago.
Are you saying that you wouldn‘t still like to remind the pigs even after thirty years if we made it to the Champions League?
I could understand it getting a bit tinpot if talking to fans of any other club but not them, they’d still bite after all.

I’ll be shouting it from the rooftops whenever any pig is within my immediate vicinity.

Lad at work ( who by the way never goes) still clings onto their “ wonderful” European adventure when trying desperately to justify the “we are still better than you blah blah blah” argument

I tell him that all they beat was a set of Luxembourg waiters only for him to come back at me with the highly predictable reply of “well at least we were there”. - even though he wasn’t

I thought winners would automatically qualify for the next season's competition. League will be irrelevant for us then... ;)

Yeah but how many of the under 10's with 50,000 plus loyalty points will get time off school for away matches. Think of the kids!

If we get into Europe,I’m going to rub it into every pig fans face and have the biggest grin on my face when they reply with the obvious “but you’re not going to be able to go and watch any of the games”.

Tell that to all the ageing Forest fans who still go on about it !

Sorry, I was being a bit too subtle. I was having a dig at the pigs still going on about the early 90’s and their 2nd rate cup win as if it were still relevant 😉

I’m eyeing Hertha Berlin’s recent form very closely and urging them on every week. The idea of drawing them in the group stages and watching united in the Olympiastadion is mouth watering for me as I moved here in August and the only thing I miss about England is watching United in person. And my Mum.

Not sure I could brag about it as I still burst out laughing whenever I think about it, never mind if we actually do it! 😂

Wilder's Odyssey - just for the completely taking the piss grandeur
Beat me to it Stannington. In Homer's Odyssey the journey by Odysseus took 10 years, along the way defeating many of the Greeks enemies and achieving great things. It would be brilliant if our Odyssey under our Odysseus (Wilder) did the same thing.
