If the goal had stood...?

Well coming from someone who has never ever thrown a punch, before, during or after attending a football match I would say I'm entitled to my view.
Violence isn't something I agree with at a football game, or in general, but you can understand the anger that some people felt at such a wrong decision.

Why do you think so many people fight outside court?

I haven't seen any stats for fighting outside court.

Sorry but it's a game of football.
It may mean more to some but fighting because we lost or fighting at all is just fucking ridiculous

There are plenty of good reasons for a little dust up but this isn't one

This. People really need to grow up and stop thinking they can "do what they want". The law needs toughening up and these wankers need to be brought to book. That's our fans and theirs by the way. I make no distinction between them because they are all arseholes.

Reading the OP makes some of our lot sound like a bunch of primary school kids. They don't get what they want so they stamp feet and start pretending to have a fight with a bloke through a fence. Wow!

I've seen some people justifying it on here and it leaves me speechless that supposed gown men can say this sort of thing has either a reason or an excuse.

It's really a pitiful excuse and justification for being a pillock. If those of us of more advanced years had reacted like that to every bad decision we'd be looking and sounding like Rocky Balboa.

Or dead.

Two things

One, what if and what would have happened if....come on, it did get get disallowed and there was a stupid reaction....what a pointless opening question.

Two, referring to the use of video evidence, if it was in use we wouldn't have had the free kick in the first place so would never have scored the goal and would still have lost 1-0 as we did.

Let's just move on shall we?

If the goal had stood I'd just have snorted a few lines of Charlie off my seat and set a flare off, like normal.

I go to football to enjoy myself not fight.

Plenty of our players were glued to the giant screen after the full time whistle looking for proof it was the wrong decision. A rerun of it could have made the situation even worse

You forget that this retrospective video evidence would have shown that it wasn't a free kick in the first place

Furthermore reason for it not to have happened. We would've just lost 1-0 and come away thinking we've not done too badly in the end against a team who's strikers cost 40m more than our entire squad.

Would the violence have occurred?

I'm not condoning what happened after the game, far from it. I hate to see this happen, especially if it is involving SUFC and definitely if I end up getting caught up in it.

But,

Had the goal stood, or if the goal was correctly chalked off, would the violence have ensued? The Blades fans would've left the ground in a totally different mood and the Boro fans would've probably not been stood waiting as the handbags inside the ground before the FT whistle wouldn't have happened.

Beer and bad decisions don't go well together.

So,

If we had retrospective video evidence to check back on key decisions, this whole debacle "COULD HAVE" been avoided. i.e. if the evidence was shown on the screen and the 4th official makes the decision, all fans inside the ground would've known that there was no mistake. The Boro fans then don't goad the Blades fans, the Blades fans don't react, then the Boro fans don't have a reason to wait outside.

Same would go if the decision was proved to be correct. If the fans inside the ground can see the linesman has made the correct decision then surely it's fair do's and we move on.

I think the decision on Saturday had a lot to do with what happened afterwards.

Can I goad you with this photo........

Why do you think so many people fight outside court?

Because if you've been in court, you're statistically more likely to be uneducated and to believe that violence is the solution to your grievances. It's not the judge's fault for giving a verdict you don't agree with.

Jail the linesman and let the lovely young (and old) men who were spitting and at and hitting kids off. Good solution.

Furthermore reason for it not to have happened. We would've just lost 1-0 and come away thinking we've not done too badly in the end against a team who's strikers cost 40m more than our entire squad.

Which is what we should have done anyway. There is no justification for this behaviour so stop making half arsed excuses for them.

Whether the violence would have occured or not is a futile question.

I've seen people blame everyone else but the people involved in the trouble for this over the last few days and that's exactly where our problem sits, if you don't get involved but you try and justify it, even on a web forum, some kid somewhere is reading and internally justifying it to themselves and so you're part of the problem.

Getting involved in violence because of a football match is at best misguided, but generally just outright foolish. Some people can't keep hold of their tempers after a few beers and some just go out looking for trouble. Bad refereeing decisions happen every week, yes it's a problem, but it's not the problem that caused the violence after the match, that was the decsion making skills of those involved.

If you were involved and you got caught on camera, expect the judge to go hard on you. They don't take kindly to away fans causing bother in their town. You won't do it again once you've been sent down for it and get a 6 year banning order.

The opening question in my opinion would be 'is it all worth it?' It might seem like fun at the time but trust me, once you've been caught and dealt with by the law, the rest of your life away from football will seem so much more important than a 10min scuffle.
