We could have fielded a much much stronger team last night

Hulse & Stead up front

Tonge in the middle

Armstrong on the left

just goes to show what a poor manager he is!

Problem being, with the exception of Armstrong, they were all as out of form as the current crop. Again, Armstrong excepted, they aren't exactly showing him up now.

Hulse and stead score goals in this league, so yeah they are showing him up

Tonge is better than any of that shit we had in the middle last night, and armstrong is a better option than danny take a player on, then go back and take him on again, and again and again, then finaly do nothing with the ball webber

Most of the people I know thought that Hulse was surplus to requirements, but I'll agree about Stead. Don't think he got enough of a chance.

Tonge was getting more stick than Monty at the start of the season!

Armstrong wouldn't have even got past his man. People used to slag the manager off for playing him on the wing.

Webber didn't get the ball often enough last night.

Can't agree, apart from Stead the others should have been sold and were rightly done so.

Hulse was majorly out of form, and we got a good price for him, I was happy with his exit.

Tonge was awful for us 90% of the time for the last 5 years, excellent price for him.

Armstrong was never going to get a game for us and he was rightly sold as he wanted first team football.

I do agree though that he is still a poor manager.

I agree! I can't believe he sold Stead for 700k and Armstrong for 500k :shakehead::shakehead:

Armstrong offers more going forward but was never as reliable defensively. With hindsight, probably would say Armstrong would be a better pick but at the time, Blackie didn't really have an option with him wanting football and underperforming for us.

Stretch or Naysmith?

It depends what you want, if you want a wing back who'll get up and down and be more of a threat offensively than a solid defender, you want Armstrong.

If you want a quiet, but very reliable defender you pick Naysmith.

I like a solid back 4 to be playing, with a more attacking midfield, so I'd pick Naymsith.

"reliable" r u taking the piss. naismith is wank. has no passion, no possitional sense, no passing ability etc .... i would have armstrong every time in this team at left back. much better than naismith

Matt Matt Matt,

I'd suggest watching Naysmiths' game.

His positional sense is more intelligent than anyone else in the back four. He may not have the most pace in the world, but he has a good footballing brain.
His passing is also very good, again though with United players not wanting to receive the ball, it's hard to find someone when they're hiding behind players.

You choose Armstrong over Naysmith, yet Armstrong was constantly out of position time after time after time.

Don't get me wrong, I liked Armstrong, but he was surplus to requirements and was shipped out accordingly.

Michael Tonge played terrible for us (for a few years) and £2 million was an excellent bit of business.

Most people thought that he had reached the end of the line with United.

Plus Tonge aint getting many games for Stoke, so does not look like they rate him.

If he hadn't let so many go we wouldn't have to go and try and get them all back.
