In 2003 when I moved to Germany and spent the weekends over the whole summer going to village shooting, hunting, wine festivals around where I was living I noticed that the community organised these things much like carnivals in the Peak District villages. The locals all drank too much and were generally bladdered, but there was no fighting, no bother, a little exhuberance but no destructive behaviour.

The same was witnessed in Holland (except Rotterdam), Norway, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Switzerland, Austria and Italy. Go to Poland though and you start to see the same drunken destruction as you do in England, then Croatia, Russia the same.

It seems that England isn't the only place where it kicks off with Booze, but so many places don't.

Having said all that, the most obnoxious pissed up twat I met was in Aussie bar in the Rydges hotel in Doha and he was French. The biggest set of cunts, vicious ones at that were Aussies in the Ski Resorts around Nagano in Japan.

I'm heading to Krakow on a stag-do in a couple of months. Got a nasty feeling it'll be one of those "watch your back" situations.
The lads I'm going with are a well behaved bunch who aren't remotely prone to violence or obnoxiousness. But my concern is that certain locals will see a group of English males and assume we want trouble, as is the stereotype.

Krakow is a nice city and like anywhere, if you end up in the local Roxy, Ritzy, Hippodrome type place then you'll more than likely get some bother in a big group. But most polish lads are decent and some good bars in Krakow.

I think if you're with decent lads it certainly helps. We ended up turning over a bar in a nightclub in Bologna in 2001, turns out one lad caused a bit of bother and then it turned into a bit of a Wild West Saloon type affair. Some comedy moments in amongst and thankfully nobody really hurt or locked up...
 
Why is it away games it only happens ? We never see this behaviour at the lane.Sure, the odd nob head but theres loads at away games.Seems strange to me.

Not that strange. They probably start drinking / snorting Charlie earlier and they're amongst a smaller group in a foreign town

That's the problem though Swiss, they don't sit in their allocated seats, they stand wherever they want and don't care who they push out of the way or about any supporters who want to sit(stand) in their allocated space.

I've come to the conclusion that social media has completely de brained our youth . they are fucking brain dead . I'm afraid the SRA BBC has had a slow death .some are still around but most have dementia .

Also because the fuckwitted young "men" involved presumably see themselves as "conquering" the territory of others, when away from home, ergo enhancing the size of their (tiny ?) dicks.
 
The thing is when we are only allocated a thousand or so tickets the knobheads still find their way to the away games so they must have plenty of loyalty points which would suggest it is deep rooted in the fanbase and not a problem of someone going to the game as a one off. The last trip to Wembley was enough for me I was lucky enough not to be in an area where it kicked off but even where I was the stewards were having a real hard time keeping a lid on arguments between our own fans FFS, a lot that day were off their tits and it wasn't through just alcohol. Fuck going to away games too old for all that shit.

There are some... But it's noticeably worse at closer/easier or more popular aways.
 
I was only a wannabee hooligan for a brief period in the early '80's. Even back then I remember that what we were looking for was media recognition, and recognition from hooligans at other clubs. If any match report in the Sunday papers mentioned the trouble cause by our fans, that was as good as a Blades win. The holy grail was to be featured on the TV news. The high bar was the famous scenes of Millwall at Luton. Any quote branding us as animals or thugs was music to our ears. It was all about having a reputation for being "hard".

No one would admit that they preferred causing trouble to supporting the Blades - indeed all hoolies I knew were also big Blades - though it wasn't uncommon for them to miss games, or part of a game, through a preference for roaming round the city looking for trouble. Drugs have always been there - in my day it was speed and spliff, but drugs weren't taken by the majority. Not sure what powder they are sniffing today, but there's unlikely to be much actual cocaine in it.

Like others say, its up to the older lads to say summat, even if it's just "stop acting like a prick, there are families here"

Brought this thread back because Saw a video on my twitter feed from @footyawayday (would upload but no idea how to upload the video on here) & its of alledgely a Sheffield united fan pre match today letting off a flare inside a pub, my days it doesnt happen often but i was speechless watching it, because i cant believe a person could be so stupid its bad enough in an open air stadium. But it takes a special type of selfish Moron to set it off inside. they make Ralph Wiggum look smart

And this was exactly the kind of dickish shit the pigs pulled at Rotherham the other week, clearing a boozer full of their own fans by lobbing smoke bombs around.
 
You can't do anything about it. Darwinian laws determine that a percentage of the species will be of very low IQ. They are useful as manual workers and as cannon-fodder in wartime.
