I was told last month

When you look at SUFC and the model it operates, with an Academy and all the trappings of a club many times its stature, would it really shock you if you found we had some Newcastle United when Dennis Wise was there type system? I would be the least shocked person in the world because we seem to have written the book on how to take something and really, really make a dogs breakfast of it.

I honestly don't have a clue what you're talking about, for the first time ever.

Glad to see you back though, re-invigorated it seems.

Hammond will be one of them. Wonder if Wilder will want him?

That would be way bigger the Sammon farce if he was already signed up by gentleman's agreement.
No way Hammond will be at the lane next season Woody,in my opinion . Adkins still insisting that he was still part of his plans ( meeting with board ) was one of the reasons for his demise. I know you were abroad and missed the match but the aggression and vitriol shown to Hammond was severe, there was no way back after that.

I saw him do something as I watched from the Kop, a very reliable source told me it was a thumbs up. But maybe the twatterspere is right.

Has anyone any evidence, I'd like to know for sure.

I was about ten yards away. He put two thumbs up, but let's believe Twitter posts because he's an Adkins signing.
Not conclusive but more evidential than somebody sat on the Kop or more likely in an armchair at their mothers.

If thats the case then fair enough. I saw him leaving the pitch to a chorus of boos then gesture 'something' towards the crowd. I then read that on twitter. Why wouldn't I believe it.

Take it that they were sarcastic thumbs up?

Like I have said, I thought the boos were uncalled for, he put a shift in.

This is an interesting comment because who chooses the players we sign? The Manager? Or others? If it is the latter it may make it understandable why we keep getting it wrong.

I've said it before. I maintain the club signed woolford not Adkins. Rumours of him being offered a deal were going round for ages before he came.

Definitely. He wasn't smiling !

Looked like a thumbs up by Woolford from John Street. Thing is, he actually tried unlike Coutts, sadly he just isn't very good.

For both his and our sakes he needs to get himself fixed up at a new club this summer.

That 9 players have already agreed to join us. I assume they were verbal agreements if none or just a few had signed a pre-contract. Wonder if they are still joining us?
Looks like Dean Hammond signed a pre-contract a few months ago. Wonder who are the 8 other players? If any of them had already signed pre-contracts then Wilder will have problems if he didnt want them as pre-contracts are watertight unless both the club and the player come to a mutual agreement. If they were verbal agreements then it will still be not much easier for SUFC to refuse them because the club could be in the PFA's "blacklist"

I don't think contracts can be signed with players from other English clubs until their current deal is 30 days from expiring. Might be wrong but that's how I've always understood it. It's different with foreign players who can sign when they have 6 months left.

Even with Hammond, nothing was set in stone, he just exercised the option. And it might have been negotiated while he was already contracted to us.

I think any agreements we had will have been verbal.

Hopefully Wilder's been made fully aware of any players we had lined up and will give the green light to sign any decent ones.

I posted the below link in here yesterday. It has been going on for a few years

Sorry this is late but it was definitely a sarcastic thumbs up from Woolford. It's on Blades Player for all to see, he wasn't giving the crowd two fingers.

I tend to have a degree of sympathy with players in these situations but on this occasion I don't. From his first touch against Newcastle in July I knew we'd signed a complete dud. He's been dreadful and apitomises this season. The sarcastic applause he received after being subbed can't have been nice, however he's the one being paid a lot of money for being completely shit, so deal with it and keep your head (or thumbs) down.
