That 9 players have already agreed to join us. I assume they were verbal agreements if none or just a few had signed a pre-contract. Wonder if they are still joining us?
 

That's the thing, had they agreed to join the club or Adkins? Regardless, I don't think it's wise to push ahead blindly with recruitment without the involvement of the new manager. Maybe those players are amazing, but even if they are, it would set a worrying precedent for a new manager to have a load of new players thrust upon him, with no say in the matter.
 
I don't think anyone can officially sign anything till first of June. I imagine wilder might be given a list to say yay or neh to and even the players might change their mind. I would rather that list was 5 as 9 makes it sound like their is a lack of quality to it
 
We need to get a move on so hopefully he'll be encouraged to consider any who aren't already sealed.
 
Hammond will be one of them. Wonder if Wilder will want him?


That would be way bigger the Sammon farce if he was already signed up by gentleman's agreement.

Sunjihi's "Mutual Consent" threw me as it didn't look like Adkins had made the agreements so I thought it was better to wait until after the confirmation

This is why I think the best time to sack a manager is before Xmas so that the new manager can plan the summer recruitment from January

This is an interesting comment because who chooses the players we sign? The Manager? Or others? If it is the latter it may make it understandable why we keep getting it wrong.

The "Technical Board"? Whoever they are? I think they are just playing a really old version of Football Manager and we can expect the arrival of Freddy Adu any day now.

I asked who made the decisions and a shrug of shoulders was the answer. I have always believed that the manager should have a big say on who we sign

Oh yes, those 9 are already at the club that will be out of contract hoping for renewals.

The club probably decided them hence why Adkins was not allowed to sign anyone in Janaury.

They never even gave him a chance to improve the squad in January when we could have done something about this season. Instead we just sat and watched Barnsley glide past us while mulling over getting rid of Adkins at the end of the season.

Lovely stuff.

You'd think so wouldn't you, given that his job depends on whether the signings work or not.

The way football clubs work nowadays, it wouldn't surprise me if wilder made that list, after someone whispered in his ear a few months ago.
