The technology is nowhere near good enough to base offside decisions on a distorted image of a toe or the point of a shoulder blade .

Allowance needs to be made for margin of error and it should be in favour of the attacking side .

Offside is meant to stop 'bog lining' as we would have said as kids, not stop a toe being a millimetre offside.
If the technology has to be used, lets get a margin of error, like thick lines or whatever , included.

For example Lunnys goal against Arsenal this week was offside, could see it in a few seconds, even with biased goggles on. VAR took ages. It is useless. Change it or get shut.

VAR is woefully inaccurate and their cameras are only running at 50 frames per second, which is laughable.
Any decent high-speed cameras will easily cope with 10,000 fps, like the ones we use at work.

My mobile phone does 960FPS full HD. The fact that technology is available cheaply and they're not using it is inexcusable when it's deciding results, there's millions at stake.

I'm not saying they need to put multiple Phantoms in every ground, but get some of these 960FPS capable sensors with some flash memory and decent lenses on to make a relatively cheap custom system.

1000fps ish would be plenty for football I reckon.

Spot on. We use Phantoms at work, but, like you said, any camera system that can do 1000fps should be more than adequate.

I honestly think VAR, if used correctly, is a welcome addition to the league. As with any new system, there will always be a 'bedding in' period, and in the early part of the season, we along with just about every other team benefited and suffered from this time.
However watching the Man U game last night it became apparent that we are going backwards. Personally I would like to see the rules relaxed so that if any part of the attackers body is level with the defender then play should continue. This is the entertainments business, and we want to see goals, not offsides

That would simplify things a lot and there's a fair chance that a human being, on a good day, would be able to spot that. As in your photo immediately above, the ref could look at that and say, the Man Utd player is not clearly in front of the Brighton defender - so play on!

If we introduce a new system that has potential to change the way we have traditionally played the game then it needs to work, faultlessly, from day 1. And everyone affected by it, needs to know how it will be applied and be agreed on that. It's true other teams have suffered from this as well, but as things stand currently, no team in the land has had more wrong decisions awarded against them than us!

Not saying I agree that we should willingly accept a bedding in period, just that there normally is one.
In a perfect world it would work first time and every time, but Apollo 1 didn’t land on the moon, you buy a new house and get a snagging list etc

VAR can’t decide whether or not something is a yellow card. If someone is sent off for a second yellow card, it’s not reviewed. If someone is sent off for a straight red, it’s always reviewed.
