Hello from Fremantle, Western Australia -Yes I used to enjoy my coarse fishing, so apologies to the many thousands who pipe up on match days
So I couldn't be further from BDTBL if I tried. One of the (not many) regrets I have from moving out here in 2003. First game at the Lane as a 10 year old was with my uncle back in 71-72 v Stoke. We lost but I was privileged to witness TC receive the ball outside the area with his back to the goal then somehow it was in the top corner, Gordon Banks never moved. There have been a few unhappier times since then...but the PREMIER LEAGUE ffs....

Love Fremantle, the shops are bit like what Rotherham are to Sheffield, but despite that great for a bar crawl. Been a few times and particularly enjoy going to the Little Creatures brewery for an expensive but quality ale.

Also really like the Ship & Anchor and is it The National? The one in the centre where you can sit outside upstairs on the balcony.

How long is it since John Smiths Magnet Ales were on draught in pubs ?

Maggots are still available.
You don't have to eat them , although it helps their energy if you warm them in your mouth before hooking them.

So I reckon maggots are both older and more contemporary.

I must , however , concede that Woodbine cigs are no longer available and snuff is hard to find , so being obsolete might be a justification for inclusion.

Look at this logically:
Like a packet of woodbines,
Like a good pinch of snuff
Like a night out in Sheffield
Like a greasy chip butty

All the above associated with, well a night out in Sheffield, no mention of course fishing whatsoever. Also a gallon of Maggots, to anyone that has actually done any fishing whatsoever that’s a ridiculous quantity. You’re practically becoming a supplier with that amount.
I do not doubt people sang maggots in the late 80’s because well it does sound similar but that doesn’t provide the unimpeachable evidence they think it does.
It’s Magnet and to think it could be anything else it simply potty.
