I love Wilder but

For Chris Wilder to have taken us to where we are now in such a short space. He deserves the dignity of still being our manager when we inevitably get relegated.
I obviously can’t second guess what the prince will do. But we the fans really do owe Wilder the benefit of the doubt and we should just suck it up.

Like I said, if he ain’t a pig he might as well be. Same as you if you think we should even think of getting rid of Chris Wilder.

So if so just fuck off and do us all a favour.
Very boring response, like most of your posts (surprised you're talking about Wednesday in some sort of form... not)

I've made my position very clear. I'm not Wilder out, I think it's too soon, but it's getting a big boring now. We're playing the same way every week and doing nothing to change it.
The football is dour, boring, and possibly the worst I've seen from a PL team. We are on course to beat Derby's relegation points total, that would be a huge embarrassment for the club and Chris himself.
I think if you can't ask questions of your manager after 1 point from a total 36, something is very fucking wrong.

What makes you think that you're the authority on everything?

People can have different views. We can't just keep doing the same thing whilst losing every week. It's only right that questions should be asked. This season is a disaster.

Can’t say I’ve ever noticed you’re posts to say if you’re boring. Maybe that says something.

How you can say our football is boring and the worst you've seen from a PL team is quite frankly stupid.

We might be on course to beat Derby’s record but it ain’t going to happen.

Who‘s trying to say I’m the authority on everything? Who’s saying he can’t have different views to me?

My view which I’m entitled to is he and others might as well go and support the pigs if they don’t already because in my view getting rid of Wilder would be our greatest mistake and something only pigs would want us to do.

Thats my opinion, might not be yours but I’m not trying to force you or anyone to agree with it.

Deranged. We have 1 point from 9 games. If you don't think the way we've played for all of this year is dreadful, boring negative football bar 1 or 2 games I worry for you.

What makes you so sure about us NOT beating Derby's record? Where are the wins coming from? We scraped a draw at home to Fulham ffs

No I don’t think it’s boring negative football. We’ve played some top top teams in our recent games and been a tad unlucky against those and some of the so called lesser ones. No need to worry about me.

I have thought about Derby’s record but I’m so sure we won’t go there is because I have faith in Wilder and the players.

The wins will come . IMO.

You've literally told everyone who wants Chris Wilder out to fuck off to Hillsborough 🤣 🤣

Freddy,

I have exactly this debate with fellow Villa fans. I think no one person is greater than the club and we should also strive to get the best we can whether that is a player, a manager or a CEO or any other position at the club. Personally, I feel Dean Smith has taken Villa just about as far as he can. I would love to see us getting a manager like Pochettino and if we could get him I would sack Smith in the morning. However, it may prove impossible for Villa to attract a Poch type manager and if that is the case then I am happy to stick with Smith. I think where Sheffield United are currently in their development, that CW is the best manager for you. If he stabilises the club as a midtable PL team then it may be time to look to get a 'better' manager. I look at the teams in the PL (outside the of big boys) that have modern, attacking style managers: Nuno (Wolves), Hasenhuttl (Saints), Potter (Brighton) and Bielsa (Leeds). These teams are all developing on the pitch and all look to be heading in the right direction. They are playing the style of football I want to see my team play. I think the other manager like Smith are able to get a bunch of players to play to a system and to punch above their weight. I don't think that Smith is in the same category as the 4 managers I mentioned. I don't think CW is either but I think CW is probably top of the pile as the best manager from all the rest.

From the outside looking in, it looks like you have got your recruitment much more nailed down than last season?

Oh my god.

"Who‘s trying to say I’m the authority on everything? Who’s saying he can’t have different views to me?"

"Anyone who wants Wilder out can fuck off to S6"

You're LITERALLY doing what you say you aren't doing. Literally. One post previous.

I was replying to you’re original post which you edited while I was typing, so not as dim as you.
If i edited it as I was posting you'd have quoted that one, not the edited one, but nice try chief

He can have different views to me and I can still tell him to fuck off to Hillsborough.

Surely that’s not too hard to grasp?

I thought you got an infraction for telling people to fuck off. If that’s not the case, I’ll start making a list...

Yes this season the transfers have hit the ground better than last. But when we got promoted we had an awful squad. Loads of loans and ageing players which meant we had to bring in 14 new players. That was always going to be difficult and we were spending “only” about 10m per player. We also made the mistake of not getting any PL experience. This year we brought in 5 players and good experience with Barkley. Also, when we bought form the Championship we bought, at least on paper, two very good players in Cash and Watkins but the pair cost about 45m. The money in football has gone mad. I expect your transfers will come good, particularly Brewster, I would like him to be in our squad. But this season really shows you guys need a bit of experience and unfortunately you pay top dollar for experience. If I were you guys I would want Axel Tuanzebe from United on loan in Jan. I loved him at Villa when we went up and he is a quality CB, exactly what u guys need at the moment I think. I would take him back at Villa in a heartbeat

chris wilder was in for both watkins and cash before smith got involved the difference being we cant match villa with either transfer fees or salaries isnt barkely on loan at 100k a week and you must have spent 250m on transfer fees in the last 3 windows we just cant compete with clubs with multi millionaire owners but i do agree with you we should have recruited at least a couple of experienced premier league players in the last window ps is your boy grealish still throwing himself to the ground everytime he gets touched 😉

This forum has never exactly been the high water mark when it comes to intelligence and objectivity, but this thread takes the biscuit. Some are questioning Wilder and rightly so. To those who claim this is his first blip, it isn’t (first few games in his first season when I thought calls for him to walk were ridiculous) and after Christmas the first season back in the Championship. This current malaise has been going on since the end of the ridiculous lockdown last season. Something has changed with Wilder; his approach and demeanour have been wrong for a while. Added to this are his questionable signings. He is capable of great things but will he get his mojo back? I’m not sure. Perhaps being a supporter as well as the manager is weighing too heavily on him. As it is, whether he stays or goes is not my decision, but I think it’s more than fair to speculate on his future.

The speculation must have balance though, which you demonstrate in your post.

But honestly, it’s not great, but I’d stick my mortgage on Wilder getting more points than any other manager with this team.

Granted, recruitment needs scrutiny.

Yeah, it is very very tough to compete in the PL without money from owners. The system looks like it is setup to prevent clubs breaking into the top table. I think Villa’s owners have spent about 220m on transfer fees since buying the club and that doesn’t even include wages. And Villa can’t compete with the big clubs who are paying 200k+ a week in wages, FFP sees to that. I am not sure what the best way is to level the playing field a little more but FFP doesn’t appear to be working too well. Maybe a wage cap or something like that would be more effective. There is a real fine line between survival and disaster in football these days. The season we both got promoted you obviously did it automatically but we played Derby in the playoff final. Derby are now bottom of the Championship and could be heading for League 1. Remember Leeds spring on Derby that season and Derby beat Leeds in the playoff semi finals. It must be hard on fans to have been the same level as Leeds and Villa and now they are miles behind.

And yes, Grealish has won more fouls than any other player in the PL this season 😀

Madness the stick that the "Wilder Out" brigade are getting. He's a big boy, on a decent contract. He's had plenty of money to spend. We've got 1 points from 36 on offer in the last 12 games.

I'm not in agreement with sacking Wilder, but we can't just keep doing the same thing, losing every week & say "it's all fine because of his record."

All of this talk about "he'll bring us back up" - based on what? We will have to sell players to balance the stadium purchase, there'll not be much to invest & we're already worse than 2 of the sides that will be coming down with us... If we haven't won a game by Christmas he will have to go. The players will have lost all faith by then & his position will be untenable.

We've got West Brom next, I think they'll beat us. But even if we do pull off a result we've then got Southampton, Leicester & Man U.
Last season, when we were good, we only managed to get 1 point from 6 games against those sides.
Wilder no doubt doesn't think we can go "toe-to-toe" with them. So you're looking at being relegated by Christmas without a fight.
Based on him getting us promoted twice with much lesser squads. Question him based on this season but don't question him getting us promoted he has more than proved himself. Its a silly statement!

Everyone said Brighton sacking Hughton was utter madness and that every team in the FL would have him tomorrow. It's taken him a year to get a job, and Forest are hardly pulling up trees (bdumtshhh) meanwhile Brighton are looking a much better side and are playing some lovely exciting football, we could only dream of under Graham Potter.

The reasons people have for not wanting Wilder to get sacked are a bit simple for me. I'd stick for now but if nothing changes we have to twist, the manager so far this year is not the one that made me fall in love with football again 4 years ago.
Yes incredibly simple he is the best man for the job and doesn't deserve to be sacked after 9 games talking into account the extraordinary conditions at the moment. Look at Norwich they stuck with their manager and look in a good place to come straight back up.

If the Prince turns round tomorrow and sacks Chris then I'll say it's harsh but I truly believe he has the best interests of the club at heart and it's a decision made on a business basis rather than one ruled by the heart.

I think if we're still playing the same way come the new year and don't have a win to our name, neither us nor Chris can be surprised if he gets the boot. Having 1 point from 9 games is embarrassing, Forfar Athletic would probably have more.

Insanity is doing the same thing time and time again and expecting a different result, suffice to say insanity is how I'm viewing Chris and AK's management of the team at this precise moment.
And you wonder why people get angry at certain things written in here! I take it was tongue in cheek I don't want to get accused of being in a cult!

Hang on this cant be right Chris Wilder's recruitment is terrible and he would never be in for Watkins or Cash! Some on here have lists of players who we should have signed screw the 100k a week we should have just gone and got Barkley.
