Club was in terrific place last few seasons until owners went into self district mode. It's the Blades version of BREXIT

Actually, we were in a terrific place until Coutts broke his leg, disrupting our pattern of play, from which, with a thin squad, we never really recovered.

I've never understood people's obsession with slagging off Ryanair
I flew to Dublin from Manchester last year and Paul Scholes was sat a few rows in front of me.

He could charter his own flight, but Ryanair was good enough for him

Flying Ryanair is like Russian Roulette. You can get away with it for a while, and nothing the doubters say appears to make sense. Stick with them long enough, however, and the useless fuckers will blow yer (metaphorical) brains all over the cage.*

* Still not as fucking useless as flybe, mind you.

Anyone who thinks we won’t go up has the opportunity to put their money where their mouth is by laying United on the Betfair Exchange. There’s currently £231 offering to back us in the “to be promoted” market at 3.45 (2.45/1). To take the bet, you would have to put up £566. United fail to go up, you get your £566 back plus that £231 (less 5% commission on your profit). United go up, you lose your £566. Basically, if that price is right, the “wisdom of crowds” gives us about a 29% chance of being promoted.

I think that says more about Paul Scholes than it does Ryanair!
From what I’ve heard about him he’s a down to earth normal bloke with no airs and graces. I don’t think he ever had an agent and never quibbled when it came to contract time at Old Trafford just signed what was offered.

Ive thought this for quite a while, even a few weeks back where we was top of the league.

It isn’t a criticism of Chris Wilder, the board, the players or anyone else associated with the club, as I believe given the financial constraints that we operate under we are already vastly over performing and playing some excellent football that is entertaining to watch.

We are in a Division where there are several clubs that can afford to spend a lot more money that we can, have infinitely stronger squads that we do, you just need to look at some of the bench warmers at the top end of the championship for evidence of that, and I worry what will happen if we pick up a couple of long term injuries and get offered stupid money and take it for one of our established first teamers.

The last few years, especially the 6 long years in League One have sharpened my mind a bit about football, and made me a lot more pragmatic about the bigger picture, and since the return of Chris Wilder, it has made going to the Lane every week a pleasure again rather than a chore, but I also do think that the football we have played and some of the excellent results we have enjoyed have raised expectations higher than they should be, and it is too easy to get carried away.

I think being realistic what we need to do is stick firmly behind Chris Wilder, and I also think he knows what the crack is, wait for the mess in the boardroom to get sorted out, although they do deserve some credit for allowing Wilder some more to manouvere in the summer transfer market and hopefully that when it is sorted out in the boardroom that we still have Wilder and the nucleus of the squad we have now, and whoever gains full control sees the chance we have got and invests sensibly to give Wilder what he needs next season to get us over the line, because we are still in an incredibly good position and not a million miles away from where we want to be.

All that is needed from everyone is a bit of time and patience, and understanding that at the minute we are already punching well above our weight, and if we show that bit of patience then eventually we will get what we want.

That’s a rational and well thought out post Brownie. I agree with most of it but I do think that if we add two or three quality players in Jan we’ve got a great chance.

I’m not with you on the “patience” bit though. I just think there’s no guarantee we are going to get stronger each season and improve our chances of going up. It’s also a fact we are losing money the more we stay at this level. So it’s really urgent actually that we go up ASAP. The owners will know that I’m sure and whilst I don’t expect them to put millions behind it I do think that they will see we are in with a great chance, which if backed, could get us over the line this season. And then we’re in a whole different place in terms of our longer term future, even if we came straight back down again.

Brownie, that’s far too sensible. Totally agree.

Bloody well said Brownie

Teams like Derby will cover this and go and buy 2/3 new players and spend £10m we won’t.

Absolutely correct, it's a disgrace, no ambition, sack the board, it's our club.

We deserve Champions League.

3. Sheffield United 6million - The Blades have already been linked with a couple of loan moves - most noticeably Jermain Defoe
