Think there's plenty to be said on this. Firstly, a general point on the forum. For every fan that may be 'looking' for reasons to criticise Lundstram (and personally I don't believe any fan looks for this, I don't know why they would) there is another fan which will always look to defend him blindly.
My first comment would be about Wilder's comments. Ofcourse he's going to say Lundstram played well. I aren't saying Wilder doesn't believe it, but when asked a direct question he simply has no alternative than to say he played well. I also don't think 'wilder said he played well' is necessarily a great support for Lundstram because Wilder had to say that. (Again, I'm not sayin he doesn't think it, but even if he didn't, Wilder would still say that)
Secondly, I think we are yet to see the best of him because he doesn't strike me as having the fearlessness the other players have. Lundstram is very safe. I don't know if he has the capability to do what Coutts did, or not, because he is very 'safe' in his approach. Dare I say, a little bit Hammond-esque in as much as his first thought is to protect the ball and retain possession rather than look forward and risk an incisive ball.
Also, simple stats don't read well. When Lundstram has started, our win percentage is 20%. When he doesn't start, our win percentage is 78.6%. It's not like he's played against all the top sides too, every match he's played has been against mid table to lower mid table sides.
Finally - 'bet these are the same people wishing Coutts to leave 18 months ago'. Well I can confirm that isn't true for at least one fan. I have always rated Coutts, ever when we signed him and he was playing RW! Granted, I never imagined he'd become the player he is. I'm yet to see that in Lundstram (not to say I can't be wrong about him!).
Some of my post is in his defence, some shares some of my concerns and criticisms. However, it's a valid opinion to want o try something else, just as much as there's validity on wanting him to get a run in the team. It's opinions, and My opinion will change if/when his performances improve. We need to get out of this mentality of always thinking fans are 'for' or 'against' players. At the moment, I personally don't think he is good enough. I'll gladly eat my words if he improves, but to criticise our opinion simply on the grounds that you think I, and others, are just 'looking' for an excuse to criticise him is wrong and nonsensical.
