My favorite home game against Sunderland was October 1978, we won 3:2 and it was also on MoTd as the division 2 game. It was an excellent game, with one of our goals finishing second in the MoTd goal of the season, Steve Finnieston?. I also remember the scrapping around BDTBL before and after the game, they brought a good few that season, I remember one of the Sunderland fans was saying Newcastle was one of their next games and they expected a beating off the pitch.

Like that - although aren't Fulham in there twice?
Richard's wife is one of the admin in one of Blades fans FB groupsRichard harwood was my next door neighbour on dyke vale estate silent, he was well up for that game which I thought was a cracking game, also his neighbour on the other side was Albert broadbent who played for Wendy, he used to wait for me getting off the bus net curtain raised high, it was either a big thumbs down if we lost or lucky buggers if we'd won, bless him![]()
did anybody go to the game away in 1979 when we lost 6-2 ? heard sabbela was outstanding and they still wanted to quick fuck out of blades fans

I never get the love ins touted on here.My niece supports them but I've always thought that they are a bunch of retarted Neanderthals!!. I don't include my niece in that statement!!.
A pint of Scotch ,you don't hear that anymore. I have family that live next to what was Roker Park so Im biased but its the best away trip and the best fans behind us.Went to the old roker years ago, in a boozer close to the ground, it was brilliant but the head on the pints was about 4" above the rim, I cut mine off with a beer mat cue tumbleweed blowing through the pub, funny things you remember from different grounds over the yearsmind you it did go a bit quite when one of us ordered 6 pints and, er a 1/2 of cider
We were all behind the goal, huge stadium, open end no roof if my memory serves me right, and oh yes it reminds me of going to Newcastle, freezing, absolutely fucking freezing, every time I go to the north east, think it was around 1970 I was 17, great time to be a blade, wouldn't change my memories for any man u, Liverpool et AlA pint of Scotch ,you don't hear that anymore. Yes my good Makem friend was jumping with joy when our promotion was confirmed , he'd already resigned himself to championship football in Sept last year , it'll be a cracking Boxing Day atmosphere unless south yorks police decide a 12 o'clock kick off would suit them better than 30000 football fansIf you ignore the slightly patronising tone; a enjoyable ranking of away days to look forward to next season:

The game at Roker was definitely the coldest Ive been at a game. The wind came straight in off the North Sea and through the stairwells ,Baltic. We were all behind the goal, huge stadium, open end no roof if my memory serves me right, and oh yes it reminds me of going to Newcastle, freezing, absolutely fucking freezing, every time I go to the north east, think it was around 1970 I was 17, great time to be a blade, wouldn't change my memories for any man u, Liverpool et Al
Was there also Sitwell around Dec / Jan around 86 ish I'd guess it was fkg Baltic on open Terrace equipped with a thin jacket & 'beer coat' , I think I pissed out more than my 8 pint pre match aperitif due to extreme cold !!The game at Roker was definitely the coldest Ive been at a game.
