Hypothetical VAR Scenario

'Was Bernardo Silva's first handball significant? Did the ball strike Alexander Arnold's arm? Was the arm in a “natural” position? What is a natural position of an arm? Should the game have been stopped while a penalty was checked? Which passages of play should the handball rule be applied to?' I think there are so many complicating factors, no one seems to understand what what is going on or what they should do, and so we keep getting utterly inconsistent decisions.

Oooooh! Now there's a hypothetical question we haven't thought about. I suppose the default position if this happens is a penalty to Man U!
Even if they, Man Utd., are not involved in the game. Be "Very interesting" to see what they'll do if Man Utd. aren't playing, probably award a IOU pen to be taken before their next match KO.
Alright, I'm talking bollocks but so is VAR methinks.

All very good points and the conclusion is that nobody really thought all these points through before introducing VAR and that's why it's shit. I know that a number of European Leagues operate VAR. What I want to know is Do they have the same farces as we do? I suspect not. So let's look at their system. IF IT WORKS better than ours (and frankly it couldn't be worsre) then let's adopy that.

I made this point after the match. We basically witnessed about 5 minutes of a match that was completely pointless, from the handball to second VAR check. Whatever happened within that time, if we'd have scored it could have been ruled out and brought back to the initial penalty (if Lundstram had encroached).

It's just not good enough is it. I didn't bother celebrating the second goal until I realised we'd kicked off and there was no way it could be ruled out. Not worth the agro.

Why does it take so long?
Watching MOTD, it was a clear pen, could see in 5 seconds, and I'm as biased as they come. Egan knew too.
That's a big part of the problem. If they made decisions really fast it might work. Taking minutes is ridiculous.
