From the Guardian............

Sheffield United could benefit from the cream of emerging Hungarian football talent as a result of negotiations under way between Ferencvaros and the Bramall Lane club's plc chairman, Kevin McCabe.

McCabe's company, Scarborough Property Group, has been invited to tender for Ferencvaros by their chairman, Gyorgy Rieb, who heard about McCabe through "word of mouth" because his firm have offices in Budapest. With debts of more than £5m, Ferencvaros are effectively insolvent but an attractive development site that has been made available by the Budapest municipal authorities as part of the sale has drawn McCabe's interest.

Hungarian sources suggest the city and club are seeking bids in the region of £20m for an outright purchase. Although McCabe would not provide details of the amount he will tender, he confirmed that an indicative bid would be lodged with the authorities within a fortnight.

"Ferencvaros approached us to look at whether we could work with them in redeveloping the land around the stadium with the local government and redeveloping the stadium to what would loosely be a European standard," said McCabe.

"We're looking at managing the football operations to make the club more successful. We have offered to have some of our people seconded there from Sheffield United, if and as and when.

"I've said to Ferencvaros that we would try and improve their approach to fitness, diet and nutrition, particularly along the academy side. There have been some good young products recently in Hungary but with a bit better technical training they can perhaps revive their former glories."

McCabe hopes that, if his bid succeeds, Hungarian prodigies may be seen at Bramall Lane "within five years".

Anybody who's any good is welcome really, though I'm not too sure about a 'friendly' with Ferencvaros.

Millwall 'enjoyed' their visit, I believe.

That said, I'd like to visit Hungary. If nothing else, Hungarian is one of the few European languages that I can't say "Two beers, please?" in :D

Palace had Mr Tracksuit from Matalan and Sandor Torghelle when they were in the Premiership who on Total Club Manager 2005 had an INSANE rating.

Torghelle was a striker.

Tracksuit from Matalan was their keeper - Kiraly.

British players aren't good enough, and its more expensive id imagine too.

you can't build a block of executive flats on the spotty backs of a few extra academy players. It's a business investment pure and simple - the football benefits are a nice bonus.
