A few from Wilder Bingo ticked off in that one.

Interesting to hear his comments on McBurnie though, looks like it was Selles kiboshing that one.

Anything about punters?

Disappointed we didn't hear about fine margins

Exclusive from Crab Sports.

Blades sign Steve Bracknell on loan to cover for Chris Wilder.

A spokesperson for COH would have said if they weren’t struck dumb “we’ve brought Steve in because we felt like the bench needed a period of calm reflection rather than Chris’s own brand of enthusiasm”

Did anyone ask Wilder why he didn’t try to keep McBurnie the previous summer if he’s that good?

We dodged a bullet there.
He was going to sign a new deal but the opportunity to play la liga and something different sparked his interest.

I can well believe he would have signed for us instead of hull if we actually tried to sign him. And we would be stronger for it

He was even willing to come on trial this summer, according to Wilder, so I think it's almost certain he would have signed if offered a reasonable deal.

I find it regrettable we didn’t get him.

Along with Dunne and Darling he would have been a proven addition.

However, it’s a 46 game season.

In the end we signed Ings. We also signed Tanganaga, Mee, McGuinness and Godfrey.

So it now depends on whether Wilder can adjust the approach to make the most out of them.

You can’t really argue that Ings and Mee have operated at a higher level than the rest. Simply a question of how far their levels have dropped with time.

If Ings stays for and starts banging them in, all talk of Moore and McBurnie will soon dissipate.

This is what Selles said in public about it

One player who will not be at Bramall Lane is ex-striker Oli McBurnie, who rebuffed interest from the Blades to move to Yorkshire rivals Hull.

"I am not disappointed; these things happen and Oli made his own choice," Selles added.

"People wish him all the best. I don't know him personally, but it is what it is and he picked another club and there is no more conversation for us."

It's an interesting one. Could/would he make us better right now? Definitely. However, at the time we were thinking top two and PL and we've seen he isn't good enough to play in a side that has those ambitions.

He needs runners round him to be most effective. He had Ndiaye, Berge, McAtee in 22/23. This team doesn't really try to get players past the CF.

442 with Campbell/McBurnie could have been effective

The notion of sacking a manager who finished third would suggest we weren't buying players based on being 'effective' and had much loftier ambitions than that.

I won't blame the owners for that in any way. Their selection of a replacement and subsequent lack of any coherent transfer policy to back up this strategy is where the wheels came royally off.

Not picking up McBurnie I can fully get behind. Not getting a top end Championship option instead is where we've committed suicide.

100%. I was comfortable not giving McBurnie 3 years+. Less comfortable with having such an poor situation at CF

He was one of the most important players in our team that finished in the top 2.

I'm one of the 'not bothered we missed out' brigade.

McBurnies record towards the end of his spell with us, wasnt the best.

Hardly played and hardly scored.

I genuinely dont think he'd make any difference to the team, as we dont create chances for his skill set.

He likes early balls into the box to attack (see his two goals last week) and we take an age to get the ball into the box (if it goes in at all).

We would need to change our style with pacey wingers and early balls into the box to benefit from Oli and we dont have them, IMO.

As a club, we need to slowly move forward from looking backwards.

Oli probably had one good season with us and the rest was average, if he was available.
