To be fair I thought he had a good game, praise when a player does well, however I've just read KB's comments on the United site????

"Brian Howard is arguably best in a midfield three but he hasn't had much of a chance to play like that because the likes of Monty and Quinny have been doing so well."

Fair do's I think Monty has been playing really well, I have never questioned his effort, it's mostly passing ability which he has obviously worked on to his credit.

Having said that lets all get behind the lads tonight, nobody be slagging any players off, leave that while after we need to be as one big team, we CAN do it!

I am one of Howard's biggest critics, but I have no problem in saying I think he was the best player on the pitch Friday.

More of that please Brian!

Come on Blades!!

Will be interesting to see if the likes of Beattie and Lupoli, if started, play differently from the start. I think a starting Lupoli could be the key to the game tonight, doesn't seem to get into things when brought on as a sub.

Here's hoping so anyway!

I would like to see him start, with Ward if he's fit, 2 quick, clever forwards.

We need to run their back 4 ragged for the first 15-20 mins, get our crowd behind them

I said in a previous thread that I wanted Howard to start at Preston so excuse me if I sound a bit smug, I am still convinced he is a good footballer but like all good footballers he needs the ball to play or he is a passenger.

Lets hope we carry our form from Friday into tonight and carry on in that vein and don't revert to type (long balls and who cares about midfield).

I really do agree, the thing is we look like scoring more goals playing like that too

I was gobsmacked Friday night about the amount of football we played through midfield. Was it just because Preston backed off and gave us more space or have we finally found out how to find space? Who knows but I hope it continues tonight.

Howard did play well, in fact all the midfield did. It was refreshing to see midfielders bursting into the box to back up the strikers. There was also some quality tackles going in and harrying their players when they were in posession.

Can't really see Blackie not playing a target man - so without Henderson it's going to be Beattie. Think we'll know within the first 20 mins how Beattie's night is going to go. He'll either be desperate to make up for Friday and trying too hard, or he'll be more professional and calm - think the boo-boys will have a big role to play here. A goal for him early on would be marvellous - but if it doesn't come we need Plan B which has to be through balls for Lupolli to run on goal, or cut backs to midfielders. Howard and Squinny both know how to find the back of the net - but personally I'd love to see a Monty hat-trick :p

I agree, and have no problem with having a target man if he is played as he was against Preston and not every ball from anywhere on the pitch!!!!! I thought Ward was very unlucky and really hope he is fit for tonight although it looks unlikely. I do worry tho that he is going to be another Billy unless he starts being lucky, at least he seems to want to have a go when he gets the chance.

Have faith in Beattie, every player has a mare he has had his and WILL score the winner tonight!

I hope lupoli starts, im pretty sure the last time he did he scored after 4 minutes? ;)
