How was it today?

I think that's very easy to say in retrospect. Having seen Adams the last couple of games it's hardly the case that we'd have been bringing on a player in form likely to kill the game off – it might have worked, but it would have been a gamble. I think at that stage of the game, given we'd missed the chances for a second, Adkins thought it was time to try and restrict opportunities as much as possible. Which given the leakiness of the defence is understandable. We could easily have conceded with Adams on the pitch and we'd instead be reading posts lambasting Adkins for not trying to see the game out given how desperate we currently are for a win, any sort of win.

Having at least one forward player with pace can be very valuable in such situations though. Not just from an attacking perspective, but it can force the opposition to do some defending, chasing after our quick runner, at a time when they'd like to spend their all energy on getting the equaliser. When all pace is removed, and more defensively minded players are brought on, the losing team can push more players forward with less fear of being hit on the break.

Exactly the point I was making, we had the midfield and their defence had their hands full, when jcr and done went off they moved further up the pitch and put us under pressure. I blame the manager 100% today

They hit the post too though United missed at least 3 sitters.
Today was back to average, after Tuesday's nightmare show. Billy had two chances saved and done and Bashan also had good chances. A bit unlucky today

Well there was a time when we didn't start playing till Christmas, let's hope this is one of them......

Today was better (but then it couldn't have got much worse) albeit a match v possibly L1 2 worse defences because it was nice to finally seen the team pressing the opposition to try & force mistakes. It was like team had rocket shoved up there arse since Wednesday. Brayford made such a difference good in attack & did some shouting trying to bring some organisation

But ultimately so Frustrating because we shouldve had taken a vital 3pts. But as good as fwds were at times. They've got to take some or most blame for today. I was on edge all game as I knew utd had to get 2nd because this defence can't keep clean sheets. & they missing hatfuls of chances 2nd half to put game to bed to calm fans. Also on the defence that goal was coming only so much last ditch defending & kicking back to opposition which give you no rest bite until you break

Makes Oldham hugely must win because if we're not in fa cup in the new year for 1st time in 34 yrs. I think it will only add to clear out list & we need 2 cb's asap in jan
