How very sad

Had to be done. Spurs can almost double their average attendance.

And it's on the same site pretty much so the fans will be taking the same journey and going in the same pubs etc. Can't see it being that much different to stadia where they demolish stands and rebuild completely.

I was just going to say the exact same thing, basically Spurs are just redeveloping the ground but all at once. They are still playing at White Hart Lane FFS! It's not a stadium move.

As for the Lane, I'd gladly knock down the current stands and re-build on the same site.

Bramall Lane' s the only stadium to host a cup final and an Ashes test.

Hasn't the Oval done this too?

Don't forget an England international too. That's the Holy Trinity of sports and only these two grounds can lay claim.

Except for one thing. The Oval's never hosted a world title boxing match!

Most people like nostalgia but also want progress, not saying you can't have both but I would think if you really want to progress and get to the top then nostalgia would probably get pushed to the back, I have a pal who is a city fan, old school, didn't want to leave main road, didn't want the mega rich new owners, he now looks back nostalgically to the old days but by fuck he aint half enjoying life at the top, fancy going back I ask him? Big grin and I dont get an answer, would I want some of the same? Yes, I would, let me look back nostalgically about going into Europe and winning things, competing in the premier league etc, each to there own but I would love to see some "real" progress and success

I am going to see Atletico Madrids new ground in 2 weeks , They moved from their spiritual home the Vincente Calderon , and I was lucky to see them beat Real 3-0 there , the atmosphere was amazing , but Atletico are now one of Europes top clubs , the ground they are moving to is state of the art modern ,
Their fanbase has always been the working class end of Madrid but they attract more middle class executives now , but most are sons of former working class so understand the club.

I'd be very excited about that if I was a Spurs fan. Yes memories and nostalgia are great but times move on.

If Sheff United want to be a top tier English club we will need to redevelop the ground. I hope I live long enough to see it compare with the likes of Old Trafford. For now a minimum 40,000 capacity would be desirable but build in plans to be able to extend even further.

Maybe I'm just becoming a little overly nostalgic in my old age, but if ever this happened to BDTBL, I don't think I'd ever get over it.
This is all that's left of White Hart Lane.

I don't care what shiny new stadium with posh clothes shops on site you give me, it just ain't worth it in my opinion.
Beautiful Down Town Bramall Lane, home of the Mighty Blades. Please, please let's keep it that way.
Shame it isn't Hillsborough.

I think you're probably right BB!

Didi we ever win there?
I remember we didn't win ANYWHERE in London for years!!
Didn't we win 6-1 at White Hart Lane sometime in the nineties?

A night match but not sure if it was before the Premier started.

Yeah that's the one. Must be, don't think we've put six past Spurs all that often ;)

There's always resistance to change, but if this club has genuine ambition and aspiration redevelopment is inevitable.

When it happens, as it will do, once fans see the before and after photos most objections will vanish. We may not have the capacity to compare with the top 3 or 4 clubs in England, but there's enough potential for the club to grow and develop into a sizeable business where the team is the main driver for all aspects of it's reason for being here.

It's called progress and all businesses and organisations have to do it.............or die

Nobody will care once the new stadium is built and the fans of Arsenal, Man City, Sunderland, Hull, Leicester, Brighton, Bolton, Huddersfield plus another half a dozen clubs don't care either

Apart from the fact that our stadium is still in the same place there is nothing original about it or within it

Traditions are great but nobody else cares and the clubs that stubbornly worship tradition will soon die out

Exactly. And through various developments the oldest part of the existing stadium dates back to the 1980's. Yeah they are doing all at once but they'll still be back home. We can't afford or justify this right now but in some ways better to redevelop the whole lot than spend silly money here and there only to demolish it in 10, 20 years time.

Still looks better than hillsborough.

Oops I thought it was hillsborough

Ha what about the kop, when they finally excavate that it will be like an archaeological dig, you'll get every fucking chin stroker from miles around descending upon the Lane.

Well here's to their new signings. Oops ;) :)

We did in 1939 and clinched promotion

Think they must have hired a load of Arsenal fans to knock WHL down because they're not faffing about. Christ haha

Surprised to see so many seats among the shite, I thought they'd be salvageable, or saleable to either fans or smaller clubs.

It is sad to see it go so unceremoniously though, but I suppose you can't respectfully demolish a building.

the White Hart Lane they have now demolished didn't have one stand built before the mid 1970s anyway did it?

So the 2016 stadium had little but the address in common with the one from the 1960s - the new one will have the same address again anyway.

At White Hart Lane they completely removed their version of the Kop when they took away the Shelf and rebuilt that side of the ground years ago.

True......sad sad......people Iove the nostalgia and memories

But once they're in the new stadium players and fans will be blown away.
Usually new stadiums receive very positive feedback and it's classed as a great decision.
(Apart from West Ham supporters, feedback seems to be negative with many preferring Upton
Park).

I'd also prefer never to leave Bramall Lane.

They're not leaving White Hart Lane, just building over it.

If we ever need 50000 capacity I hope we do it the same way.

SUFC to own and run another six pubs around the area though.
