Getting us above the relegation zone because currently while we like it or not, we are in a relegation fight. We are currently the worst team in the Championship. We may all think the squad is good enough but if there is no structure in place we will go down.
Oh right, you mean like, in the next 3 months, rather than in the long term?

That's all we can do. There's short, medium and long term planning and with the situation we are in it's full focused on short term. These owners cannot afford us to be relegated this season. By no means do I think Wilder is perfect but there needed to be a gradual change rather than scrapping everything in an instance.

It’s not a great look from the owners & makes us look a bit of a laughing stock to be honest.

From Wilders POV he comes in with nothing to lose & reassurances. Would that make him even more arrogant? Also is Wilder right long term?

It’s just all a bit odd & it probably shows how much they’re finding their feet/ out of depth they currently are in football.
And we're not a laughing stock already??????

Only if he agrees to be a driving force behind the modernisation of the club.

He needs to get the club to a place where his eventual replacement wont be a disaster. Ideally with a successor spotted and him taking a step up into a DoF role.

Bringing Wilder back would be a short term fix. Results will improve (they have to) maybe we push for top 6, but do we not end up in exactly the same position? Wilder’s done as much as he can with us, we know his limits.

It’s ridiculous to think only one manager can manage this club & group of players. Selles is clearly not up to it, but that doesn’t mean only Wilder is.

How many more guesses do you give the yanks to who that other guy is though?

Fair point, I think they need a football person on the board to help with finding that manager.

They hired Selles because they wanted energetic, attacking football which he hasn’t delivered - so you’d imagine they want someone who fits those ideas. Seems odd to abandon that and go back to Wilder after 3 months.

How so? 5 years ago maybe, but not most recently. We need succession planning, driving the club forward is not having one man in control of everything, whereby when that person leaves, wholesale structural changes are needed

I don’t think Wilder can ever take the club forward beyond the levels where it’s been recently as a championship to occasional premier league yo-yo club.

I think he’s fairly limited tactically after his first stint where at the time he’d worked out a system that was quite modern and forward thinking but since then football has moved on a lot and I don’t think he has in his methods.

He made some truly baffling decisions last season which led to overthinking and bottling big games.

He’s also atrocious with decent sums of money and mainly wanting to buy British is so limiting when 70%+ of the regular premier league starters are born overseas.

I was quite frustrated with him at times last season and thought if we genuinely have ambitions to be a regular in the premier league then it was time we changed our culture and looked to a younger, foreign coach.

It really hasn’t worked out. Selles has been a disaster. The board let him down with squad building too late. Yes they’ve now put together a very nice squad for this division but it’s wayyy too late. A lot of the fan base were skeptical to begin with and they’re lost forever and he’s now lost a large portion of the more patient fans too. I can’t see him winning the fans back. Half of the players don’t look like they’re interested in playing for him now either. It’s a right fucking mess. If they were going to do it they needed to do eveything far quicker to give it the best chance of success.

I will be forever greatful to Wilder for bringing us out of league 1 and he’s a metric fuck ton better than Selles at this point. He’d definitely bring an almost instant upturn in performances and results but he’d also bring back all the old frustrations. Formation change away at Leeds due to shitting himself. Petty arguments with anyone who dares think something different. Strange signings. Safety first football etc etc

He’s loads better than where we are now but still can’t help think he’s not what we need long term.

Some people didn't want him back the first time and will likely still have that opinion.

Some people voted for the Nazis though and we all can agree they were wrong uns.

Its just such a colossal change. Wilder ran everything top to bottom. We haven't just changed the management, we've tried to change the style, core, entire fabric of the club.
Coming in after a 92 point season was always going to be a poisoned chalice, but let's be honest.. Selles couldn't have made more of a balls up of it.
In RB's defense, I think a few of the players have tried to get him out.
