How quiet was the Kop

Seemed extremely nervous throughout the game. Our fans seem to always be better when our backs are against the wall & radio silent when we’re expecting to win

There is nothing more cringe than Garyoke's introduction to the GCB butty music along the lines of:
"come one blades we are live on telly in front of billions at the oldest professsional football ground in the world TM;
Sing loud, sing proud etc."
Makes me want to puke. Its massively embarrasing.

I'd say there's nothing more cringe(worthy) than sitting above a noisy away following where all you can hear booming out for most of the game are classics like 'Football in a library', 'Shall we sing a song for you?', 'Your support is fucking shit' and ''2-1 and you still don't sing', while the kop just sit on their hands mumbling, waiting to be inspired. If we sang our hearts out for 90 mins, they’d still sing all that shite anyway. They were even trying to take the piss when a respectable 28k + crowd was announced.

I have never, at any point, felt embarrassed about it. Nor have I ever given a fuck about what fans of other clubs think about us. It makes no difference to my enjoyment, or otherwise, of the game.

I was in g block and the kop noise was excellent , great backing all round today. Mate was sat in the corporate box against Sunderland,said the noise from the kop was decent but not like today,also said the mackems weren’t loud but pretty relentless with shit songs and he was on the halfway mark,so I suppose the noise amplifies better from certain angles- anyone a sound technician ?

I do think the sound travels badly around our ground. But that’s just anecdotal.

Our home atmosphere is regarded by many as one of the best around and one of our strong points
So if you find it disappointing maybe a gospel choir or a job in a karaoke bar would be more your thing

Agree,but most home support is mediocre unless it’s a derby or hate each other or it’s a really shit ref,and there are a few of them. Don’t think you would call him Mcpub to his face unless you wanted an orthopaedic boot up your jacksie

Northampton at home in our promotion season was immense n all. We hammered em and hammered em to no avail. Until about the 80th minute when Kieron Freeman tapped in. By eck it went up.

Derby at home as mentioned because of the ref.
Brentford because we were really up against it.
Blackburn last season.

It shouldn't be up to the kop to do it. But even I wouldn't dare shout on the family stand. Theres genuinely more atmosphere on the chemo ward of Weston Park. And having spent time on both, I can judge.

I was at the Valencia v Barcelona match last night. The atmosphere was terrific and all generated by home fans. Most of the noise came from a section of fans in an area similar in size to the Bramall Lane lower and it struck me that if the kop was eventually redeveloped a similar section could be created. The Valencia stadium is three tiered so it lends itself to having a small area where the more consistently vocal fans can congregate. I noticed that the rest of the stadium were pretty good at joining in.
Also noted that when Barcelona scored, there were Barca fans dotted round the ground with no sign of aggro

You should give Ricky a bell, hes got a small singing section in the BLUT, currently only 1 member, but I'm sure he would welcome you with open arms

I found similar watching Sampdoria, an amazing atmosphere from one stand....even though it was a meaningless last game of the season, that they lost. And it made the game A LOT more enjoyable!

We've seen the difference having no fans there had on the team, clearly a better atmosphere does make a difference for how well the team do........it works at other grounds, and would do here!
