Reg Brierley contacted Dave Richards to see if we wanted deane for 3 million.

Wednesday did make an offer, around £3.2m I believe, but Deane wouldn't sign for them as he said later he couldn't do that to the fans.... so he signed for Leeds. Tbf he didn't have much choice as Reg Brealey had decided he was going and they were the only clubs in for him or at least willing to pay the asking price.
