Billy Sharp! "Priceless".
Honestly never rated him, till Wilder came and since then he as grown, in my estimation, both as a player and in his commitment to all aspects of the club.
His post Wrexham interview, was typical and honestly someone had to say it.
The 'circus' that is Wrexham is just disgusting, to say the least.
No footballing "supporter" world wide would begrudge Wrexham their present rise in fortune, its just the manor in which they are approaching it that wrangles.
'PRICELESS' is Billy.

I realise it's an old question but 5 years on I'd say he's no longer worth much financially if anything, but to the dressing room, the squad and to the club as a whole at this moment in time Billy is invaluable.
I'd still say he'd fetch maybe 500k to a league one team. No doubt in my mind that he wouldn't mop up in league one. Never been a pacey player, give him the ball in the 18 yard box and it usually results in a goal inside 90 mins. Priceless to ourselves though. Bleeds red and white, a true legend of the club.

It’s obvious he’ll eventually end up being our manager at some point, so either get him on the coaching staff now or encourage him to cut his teeth as a manager in League One.

Why so certain?? There's no guarantee that a good player makes a good manager and just because he's a Blade doesn't mean anything either. I'd like him to do well and justify a future appointment but solely on merit . Not emotion or connection.

No league 1 team is paying 500k for a 37 year old.

He has the advantage of knowing what makes us tick. Of course he’d have to demonstrate his credentials first, either with us as a coach or somewhere else as a manager. But obviously, I hope the stature of the club grows to a point where we wouldn’t need to appoint Billy.

I'm not 100% certain but something is telling me that I heard he was doing some coaching/training for that sort of thing. I could be talking absolute bollocks though and made that up in my head.

I guess it's a natural progression, he obviously doesn't want to let go of football in general as he's still fighting to get in the starting 11, obviously loves the sport, a lot of lads his age would have probably given it up by now but to be fair to the guy he certainly seems to be looking after himself.

I do wish he'd make this his last season though, it's no detriment to the lad but he's obviously slowing, comes with his age, it's a credit that he can still get the odd goal at his age amongst the younger but for me if we get promoted this season he can hang his boots with an outstanding finish. He's earnt his retirement and he'll forever be linked with the club, punditry, possibly coaching, something like that.

A few years ago there was lots of talk that the club had lost its way, under Adkins especially, and there was plenty of truth in that.

In the last few years the club has found its way again. Billy, Wilder* and maybe others we know less, or nothing, of took us from the wilderness to the Promised Land and not just in terms of league position.

It's not that it's his club, but we now have a certain type of player with a certain type of attitude, and without him here it would be a very different place.

To even begin to attempt considering placing monetary value on that misses the point entirely: It's like asking how much should I sell my older brother for.

*For the avoidance of doubt Billy Wilder made some great films but he had nothing to do with our recent success.

37 years olds are usually on short term or year long contracts, so there's no need for a league one club to spend anything on a player that age apart from a signing on fee.

Hold the Front Page, he could be our Ace in the Hole. We could be scoring One, Two, Three every game

Weerz mi cooart?

This is all estimated future benefits. If we count how much value he has paid to the blades in terms of goals scored, points won , assists made, respected reputation and leadership delivered then truly his value has been enormous. Compared to the actual impact players made for their clubs he must be one of the greatest.

That man is not a ref millions watched it on tv .They all saw the incompetence of the ref the league can do what it wants but it can't cover up the ref's performance.

I’m afraid Billy is now getting past it and he is too slow. Sentimentally I love him but his time is almost up unless he drops down to league two with a Swindon Town type team. Honesty is brutal but thanks for the memories Billy.
