We paid an alleged £750k for Sharp.

The question is, what is he worth to us, and our rivals now?

Including transfers fee and wages I'm saying £20m to us.

I think it’s relative. To us I’d say he’s priceless as we don’t have anyone even close to him as a goal scorer.

Not many in championship would pay big money for a 31 year old striker. That’s not to say he isn’t brilliant but we play to his strengths not sure many others do, and the ones that do have more expensive options

He's an absolute assassin and a credit to himself and the club.

The older and more cynical amongst us may pick out the weaknesses in his game. Highlight what he doesn't do. Make comparisons with the bigger and more exotic names on the top scorers chart...

... but when he retires he'll be in the company of Deane, Currie, Edwards. Our kids will tell their kids all about Billy Sharp.

I already tell my kids about Billy Sharp!

Think if he did have that extra yard of pace he would have been an elite level striker.

Probably one of the reasons we don’t put early crosses in when we counter because of the lack of pace in our frontline.

A great player with a natural ability to score. And to top it he’s a Blade

Got to be honest I was one of the doubting brigade , don't get me wrong I love Billy and am thankful we have got him , but I did doubt whether he could do it when we were promoted into the championship . Well I am man enough to say I was wrong , soooooooooooooo wrong !! What a game he had today , and he has saved us on so many occasions , he's been dropped and come back firing , he's done fook all some matches and popped up with a goal as he does !
I so wish that overhead kick had gone in today it would have been a classic , Brill game today, well-done Billy

i said it a few weeks ago on here and i will repeat it. Folks always comment on his goals, obviously, but he offers so much more. He is strong as an ox at holding the ball, he rarely lets defenders have a free header or take away and he runs his nuts off for our club. If we had a big powerful fast guy alongside him to take some pressure off him he would get 25 to 30 rather than 15-20 this season.

Absolutely unplayable today.
Probably my favourite EVER performance from him.

His confidence was through the roof and it didn't half show!
I'm saying it - he's better now then at any other part of his career.
Still as hungry and enthusiastic but he's added so much more to his game.
Clever little niggly professional too and I love it!! Never mind a fox in the box he's almost a target man too now as well which is crazy.

If he retired tomorrow and we had to find the player who 'guarantees' what we know he will give us... season in...season out...in terms of goals...how much would that player cost? if not a premier league loan...whoever it is, we could not afford him....and I am not even taking into account the leadership and what he gives us off the pitch as well as on...

My view is, he's the only 'proper striker' we have, when he retires we won't have the finances to replace him, he's about much more than just his goals & he should be spoken about in the same breath as Edwards & Deano.

I can't think of many natural goalscorers in the game to rival Billy & definitely not ones on our radar

Shame that our Bill is a fat fuck who will never be good enough for the Championship, so i would say only about £8.79p

Echo the views here, when he retires (hopefully in a good few years) we'd better hope Smith, Hallam, or Parkhouse have distinguished themselves because there's no way we can afford anywhere near the same quality.

To us, priceless, to someone else you look at the fee Madine commanded and think he must be worth at least double that?

Age is just a number in modern football, I think the fitter players get the more you'll see them bossing it into their mid to late 30s, Glenn Murray at 35 shows that if you look after yourself you can still be dangerous at high levels.

For that reason, £85m haha

Just four more league goals and he's the highest scorer in English league football this century. Sharp (currently 216) joins Rickie Lambert (219) and Wayne Rooney (208) in the 21st century 200 club.

That was Billy's 199th league game for us yesterday: 170 starts and 29 sub appearances.

He has 85 goals in those 199 games.

Here's hoping for 200 games and at least one more goal on Saturday!

We've paid over £3M for him considering this is his 3rd try with us :)

I can't see him going anywhere else (higher up) in this country now, probably end up back at Donny before he packs in or maybe go for a year in Oz, FFS even Le Fondre is banging 'em in for fun over there now.
