the match against Hartlepool had been called off? We'd still have been out-fought by Yeovil and Coventry but the pitch would have been in a lot better condition and that does seem to have affected us. If nothing else, we'd still be in with a chance of claiming 3 points from Hartlepool!

I saw on the Football League Show a Yeovil team outclass a supposedly decent Brentford side on a pudding of a pitch - did not seem to affect them and there were some very well worked goals. The state of the pitch is an excuse - if you work harder than the opposition you will have more of the ball (if you are better players) and do more with it. Same for both sides - and we are not playing football to feet at the moment so where that argument about the pitch stacks up, heaven only knows.

Nah, that's just Newton's laws of gravity - nothing to do with the coefficient of friction.
aah but it is more complex than that my learned friend
the poor state of the pitch causes Porter to move slower which then causes an increase in the gravitational force and means it is more difficult to get off the ground:D

yeah i know. it was for comic effect

Speed does not come into Newton's law of universal gravitation so that's irrelevant. It's about the mass of two objects and the distance between them.

Maybe the key element we are missing is the coefficient of shiteness, which happens to be a disproportionately large number when considering the players at our club and the way they gel together (or otherwise) as a team.
