He needs to shut his gob a bit in terms of transfers. The lists of things he wanted and things he didn't get is stacking up. It just bullshit to please the easily pleased fans, who seem to completely forget when it doesn't happen.

It wasn't a "pledge" or even an expectation. The same applies to your suggestion of "another". The club says it hopes to do something and silly fans immediately convert it to a 'promise' in order to give themselves the pleasure of saying the pledge/promise that was never made has been broken.

In over 50 years of following United, I have never heard them 'pledge' to sign a player but I've heard fans fabricate indignation on hundreds of occasions.

I think most of us would want to have another CB CM Striker and winger. An experienced keeper would be nice, however do we need them now or is the squad we have now good enough to start the season?

I ask because I look at what Wednesday did last season and what they are doing (or not doing) this season. Last year they brought in some players which gave them a solid if not spectacular squad to begin with, but what they did and where we should take notice was to wait until players became surplus to requirements.

Players like Forestieri (29th August) and Hooper (joined on loan after the transfer window) only joined the club towards the end or after the transfer window. It looks like that is what they are trying to do again this season too.

If we get some money either from the sale of DCL or Adams then I think we should sit tight and wait for a little bit of extra quality to drop to us.

Well, it was more probably 10 in all honesty.

I was a bit harsh about Wilder but my point about 'over-promising' still stands.(an no, over-promising doesn't necessarily relate to a promise)

I just think it's wiser to say less or be more vague about timescales unless you know you can deliver.

How many more do we NEED to sign before the Bolton game, or how many more WILL we sign before the Bolton game ??

I would suggest that we need; GK, CH, CM, CF and a winger to be competitive this season, plus another midfield if Adams is sold.

Its a question of how many will actually be signed

I don't think Smith is any better than Long. Both great shot stoppers and iffy with the rest.
