Having had a season ticket from 1988 to circa 2008 due to a move away from the area, family & life issues, and a young family today was my first trip back to Bramall Lane in at least 5 years and perhaps longer.
Only after the gamedid I realise how much I missed it. The tram ride to the centre (I am a Sheffield lad but live in Staffs now), the thronging crowds around the ground, and most of all the atmosphere on the kop.
I thought the game was fairy evenly matched, however, my perception was that Leicester were fitter or certainly more alert to the 2nd ball. I guess the clinical nature of their finishing was the difference and we simply did not create enough.
All in all great to be back. The ticketing is a bit of a shambles though. I bought a membership and ticket online and assumed i had to collect a ticket on the day. Went to the collection point and was told it is on the card. Go to the turnstile and nothing worked so back to the ticket office for a printed ticket. Not an issue for me today as I was very early but would have annoyed me more at a later time. Also wanted to take my boy but fell foul of the loyalty points issue...sad when we had empty seats today.
For those fortunte to live locally and have the finances, work and family flexibility, and ability to go every game appreciate it.
I know some people have to make great sacrifices (financial, work, family) to go but believe me coming back from a break it really does make you realise how I love my football and the Blades!
