Not at all, slightly, or very?

Of course we'd be DELIGHTED with how the team (and club) has done, but something like that can have tendencies to change perspective dramatically.

(For example if we survived on the final day with a last minute goal keeping us we'd feel euphoric about the season I think)

Because whereas before if we lost games (or dropped points) to 'better teams' we'd be 'understanding' and 'accept it', quite rightly, but now I'd like to believe I wouldn't be unreasonably disappointed but... I think I would be.

Anyone else the same? (yes I've drunk too much! UTB)

I think it depends how it happens. If you never reach that height and just fall short then you don't feel too disappointed because you were never there.

However if we got up into those places, stayed there consistently and then dropped out it would be disappointing because it would mean our form dropped off.

Honestly though. How long would that disappointment last.. 5 minutes? We'd have to be ecstatic with doing this well in our first season back, no matter what.

We are playing far too well, we have a strong squad to deal with injuries and a club with momentum like no others in the country. There's literally nothing to suggest we could go down. If anything, it's deliberately controversial to still be looking below 17th.

Im of the “get to 40pts mark ASAP and see where we go from there” mindset. Not negative, just the first thing to tick off. Bournemouth and Brighton at home are very winnable, so we could (should?) crack that barrier by the end of February; which would be a huge achievement in itself.

Getting into the Europa league is a weird one; would be a huge challenge to get a squad ready for it. Its such an early start in the season that it can knacker the league campaign up from early on. Plus theres not (comparatively) that much money in it until the latter stages. On the flip side, it raises our profile, helps attract a new level of player and would no doubt provide some great nights at the Lane and away trips. So I’m 50/50 on it.

But nicking 4th place? Fuck me- Champions League IS game changing, both financially and the prestige of it. If we have a sniff of that, we have to go full throttle for it. That could set us up for a loooong time.

We didn’t convince Sander Berge to sign for us by telling him we hoped to get to 40 points but there might still be a chance we get relegated.

Or that European qualification might be an outside possibility but we’re not sure if it’s a good idea just yet.

Don't think we have squad depth (yet) for Europe. I'm sure the club would assess extra potential income vs need yo reinforce squad aswell as other needs like training facilities and ground development.

However no, I would be far from disappointed. It will drive us onto bigger things next season and give the club, players and management a real taste for the next level.

I get the reason behind the opening post but really hope our fans keep some level of perspective in the years ahead.
Say we finish 6th this year then 10th next season, is that 10th place a failure? It’s a resounding no from me but you can bet some will use it as an opportunity to moan.
We’ve had an unbelievable rise under Wilder but at some point it has to level out or even go backwards a little, that’s the nature of football but let’s accept that with good grace and not the arrogance the massive down the road would exhibit.
I spoke to some Leicester fans before the home match and it struck me how humble they were and still amazed by their title win. It hadn’t changed how they viewed themselves and the culture of the club and I sincerely hope we are like this as well going forwards.

The higher the expectation, the bigger the disappointment. The lower the expectation, the less the disappointment.

If you really expect something to happen, and it doesn't, then that is very disappointing. If you never thought it would happen in the first place, and it doesn't, then that's really not so bad.

At the start of the season I thought we would hold our own and probably finish somewhere around 12th. So, if you'd asked me then if I'd be disappointed not to get a Champions League or Europe I'd have said "Eh? - what thy on abart?"

As the season has gone on, we've seen that we are indeed capable of holding our own and are performing even better than any of us expected. So now the prospect of Champions League or Europe is looking a possible one. The expectation has definitely increased from where it was at the start of this season - however, I think the majority of fans still see that there's just under half a season remaining and it's too far away to start getting excited about that prospect. So, "possible" but not "probable" is still how I'm thinking and therefore, no, I won't be disappointed in the slightest if we don't achieve that, as I see it now

But, if it comes down to the last game of the season and we need to get a point to qualify - and we don't - then that would be very disappointing. But it wouldn't take the gloss off a fantastic first season back in the Prem for long.

Anyhow, I think we're going to win the FA Cup.

I would be delighted with a top 10 finish. We're doing brilliantly and gradually improving the squad without breaking the budget and risking a Fulham type implosion is the best way to go.
HOWEVER! Sport is about seizing the moment, and you may never get the opportunity that presents itself.
Man Utd, Spurs, Arsenal and even Chelsea are all struggling this season. This might be the only time the stars align.
We have to push on, believe and hopefully we can get 5th (which means group stage).
I'm honestly not thinking about relegation. Hopefully the next 3 games can out that 'fear' to bed.

I don’t expect us to go down no, but that’s the first hurdle to overcome. That’s what Wilder will be doing while quietly building to try and get in the top 6. But considering we were in League One not that very long ago I will not be in the least bit disappointed should we finish 10th for instance.

I'm not looking at 40 points/17th place anymore! For me that's thinking really negatively. We've progressed past that mentality as a club.
Two days before the window closed I was looking at the best players in the championship to strengthen the squad. Now I'm looking at the best young talents in Europe and wondering who we're gonna sign next!!
40 points in the bag by the end of Feb. Top 10 finish is looking good. Who knows beyond that but I'm daring to dream! UTB

No team has ever gone down on 38 points in the past 15 years. I don’t see us not getting 2 points from 13 games, we will be safe. That’s from the ultimate pessimist

Im honestly not bothered about Europe, if we can finish in the top 10 this season, il still be over the moon.
I'd rather us establish ourselves as a decent prem team over the next couple of seasons, than over reach and risk anything.

For us to go down 13 teams would have to get more points than us in the final 13/14 games, despite only 4 teams getting more points than us after 25. The worst 4 of them would need to get 10+ more points than us in the final 13 games.

I was still slightly worried before Christmas, but it quite simply isn't going to happen. Have a tenner on it if you believe there's even half a chance of it and you stand to win some good money.

Spot on. And failing to get into Europe by losing the last game of the season would be a very acceptable consequence of the 13-year curse. Particularly if we win the Cup...
