How Far have we come

I think the entertainment and drama under Warnock in particular far exceeded what Wilder has done so far.

When we bother to take cup competitions seriously under CW and beat a big team in it then he might start to match NW. So far he can hardly get us to win on tv!

On that basis do you think Clough was better than Wilder?

On Warnock v Wilder... Not as many English Managers to get a top flight/Prem gig these days as back then...When Warnock was Manager at Notts County there were no foreign Managers, only English and British....I think Porterfield was Manager of Chelsea as well at the time Warnock Managed County.

In cup games yes! I want United to be much more positive about cup games otherwise why bother entering the competition?

Can't imagine Yeovil all those years ago thinking hmm we've drawn a top club in the FA Cup but we need to rest players as we've an important Southern League game coming up against Chelmsford and remember lads we're going for promotion!

Alex Ferguson and Yeovil? WTF?

I never mentioned NW being wank but feel free to suggest otherwise ...

Entering is obligatory.

Is today Bad Analogy Day?

Oh what a predictable post from the Forum's Warnock hater.

NW is/was an interesting character but boy could he get us fired up for the big games. Perhaps CW lacks that inspiration?

On general league play CW's team generates good entertainment I agree but we need to do more much more. On limited skills Bassett got more out of his players I feel. Perhaps CW needs to work with better players?

Jeez you're losing the plot Sean. When we stop fielding second rate teams in cup games I'll take more interest.

If I wanted to watch a reserve match I'd go to one (as I did when I lived in Sheffield).

One should always strive for excellence but the quality of our football now is infinitely better than under your historical favourites.

What is the ‘much more’ that Tufty could have done in his tenure so far?

I have no ego, heavyweight or not. I'm just a **** .

Woe betide anyone criticises the Pigs though. Then the fun really will start......

There will be a few on here smashing their beer glasses into the side of their heads when Warnock keeps Cardiff up. Should be amusing.

I’ll compare Sir Chris’s time in football and compare it to Colin’s when he gets to 70 ,
Colin gave us some great games and times , but also some absolutely mind boggling tactical decisions , and some shocking games as well
There’s only so much ref baiting , officialdom , no one likes us shit you can come up and swallow , and believe, take too much and you end up blindly fooling his masters voice , bit like “pigs” do , with mr chancer .
Thank you for your time in charge of our club Colin
But its history now , and in our past , I’m looking forward to our history that’s being made now

I was watching Solihull moors last night on tv and thought how lucky we are to have sir Chris in charge and playing excellent football that’s not been seen at the Lane since probably the currie era apart from a couple of exceptions. Long may it continue. UTB.
Still don’t understand how the linesman disallowed that goal last night from the short corner??. COYRAWW

Taken the League Cup and in L1 Assoc Members Cups more seriously.

Fair point.

I think you're splitting hairs though to save face.
.

No, I have always kept my eye on Warnock since the late 1970s because I would receive the Green Un by post from my dad when I was at boarding school. The Chemistry teacher at the school was from Sheffield and sometimes would ask me if he could read the Green Un (he is a Blade). Once he spotted a photo of Warnock (who was playing for Barnsley at the time) and said to me , "I went to the same school as him".

His son was the mascot when we played Notts County at the Lane in the 1988-89 season, when he got Notts County to the 1st division in 1991, I was thinking that he could be our manager in the future. I was aware he turned down Chelsea. When Bassett left us, Warnock was my choice as the new manager.
