Howard has failed at every club he has been at, and that is a fair few and lets be right you don't need to be very good to be a success north of the border.
K Mc, Willo & Porter are now out of contract unless they have signed in secret they are now free agents and off the wage bill.
Former, ex, past United players ......... gone ........ history call it what you want, and dumb Danny is not sure if they will turn up for training or not when pre season starts, you would think them not signing would have given him a clue. The majority of that squad actually finished third, and the majority of that squad looked very mediocre without our jailbird striker. Sorry if the harsh reality doesn't look bright and rosy but that's where we are. A poor squad, no investment, I just can't see where the optimism is supposed to come from.

Getting rid of McCabe wouldn't be the right option either because all our money is owed to him if I'd put 80m into a club I wouldn't be putting any more in!

As far as I can see, Ian Holloway wanted him to sign a longer deal at Blackpool after he impressed on a short term deal but they're renowned for offering pitiful wages: Robbie Fowler £500 a week?!

Still, any excuse to have a go at the club is worth it, right?*

Does anyone need to look for excuses to be critical of United at the moment, this club from top to bottom is at the moment about as bad as it gets with a squad a damn sight poorer than when Adrian Heath was manager, you would need to go back to the late 70s to see us ever in such a poor state and that is still debatable.

That is 100% truth, and I'll tel you where it's gone on players like Montgomerys wages! We've been carrying them season on season, season ticket money goes in about a month seen as we only sell 10k a year

No, we shouldn't "cheer every decision the club makes" because some of them have been awful. What we should do though is support them - the decision of metal to dismiss Howard as a failure before he's even played just got to me a little bit.

I agree completely about opinions. I was just giving my opinion about how I interpreted metal's post, which was the latest in a stream of negativity. He's entitled to that view - I just don't agree with it.

With Howard, I don't think we can hold the fact that Simonsen was picked over him against him at all. Throughout last season, Wilson demonstrated that he'd rather stick with a preferred XI than chop and change. Simonsen only made one glaring mistake (that I can remember) between Howard joining and the end of the season - throwing the ball into Hines against Bournemouth - and that didn't cost us any points; that will be why Wilson stuck with him.

Howard was brought in on a two and a half year contract in February, so clearly this shows he was seen as the replacement for when Simonsen left at the end of the season. Simonsen had his faults, and so will Mark Howard, but you can't expect a keeper to be playing in League One and not having any faults. At least Howard will probably (at a guess) cost a third of what Simonsen cost us in wages.

We're not in a good position at the moment, I don't see where anyone is disagreeing with that but slagging players off that you've not seen on a regular basis is harsh. Give the bloke a chance to prove himself.

Sorry have I missed some announcement where Platini has said the FFP/SCMP doesnt apply to the Blades, cos from my understanding of the new rules this is exactly what they are trying to stop happening.

Im not saying that KM is the best thing ever but I keep seeing this "Why doesnt he just put more money in..." argument and Im wondering if I'm missing something or not.

The Blackpool fan I know thought Howard was a good keeper in the games he played for them and was disappointed he didn't agree terms to stay, he thought we had made a good signing.
