Seriously getting a bit worrying now its not days going by without any improvements to the squad its weeks we are now 46 days until the first league game and we have half a squad. I understand that we are waiting on willo and Kmac (and porter to an extent) but we need more players than that so what is stopping us?? Deals for players seem to have gone quiet now ie beavon etc so what is actually going on at bdtbl ? Will we have enough for a game of 5 a-side next week??

Simple we don't have 2 ha'pennies to scratch our arses with, don't expect anything coming into the club unless it is a give away. Even if someone buys Lowton or McGuire or some fool comes in for our high earners don't expect McCabe to spend any cash generated.

I would expect any signings to be freebies that goes without saying but they cut they wage bill by a lot at the end of May so why can't we used it.

its only july 3rd, second working day of people being out of contract

we maybe behind on signing players but as long as we have a style and bring players in to suit the style it shouldn't take too long to gel promotion isn't won in august.

i'm not worried yet as i expect Quinn, Monty, Williamson, Macdonald, Lowton, Maguire to go if we keep any of them its a bonus but if they do go then Wilson will have replacements lined up to come in but is not going to do that if we keep them as it would be a waste of a wage.

Don't torment yourself with it, I couldn't care less. We'll go with whatever we've got by kick off, its as simple as that.

I'm sure there are a number of players DW would like to sign but he's clearly restricted as things stand. The end result of current contract negotiations will obviously dictate how much Danny has to spend and where he needs to spend it.

One can imagine he is reluctant to make any moves until he knows how to make best use of whatever funds he has left. Clearly we need forwards as a priority but any changes to the budget as a result of agreed contracts may have an impact on who he can go for/how many he can go for.

In other words we're in transfer market limbo until the futures of Willo, Kmac and Porter are resolved.

Contracts have only just finished, players are only just returning to training and we have a month and a half until the season starts. Of that 6 weeks, there is only one when Wilson cannot operate (when were in Malta). We have plenty of time. I agree he needs to get moving, though you cannot force these things. If we have not signed anyone by the time we start playing games (18th of July) then I will start to worry. Our pre season starts later this year and so does the actual season kick off.

Not worried yet. I always feel like this when naff alls happening, but the signings will come, im Sure. Plus montys not gone anywhere yet.........so thats good.

I agree.
There are not normally loads of signings going on til August so we (same as other teams) still have time.
The transfer window is open til the end of August don't forget.
DW isn't daft and he will be having talks behind the scenes with players, agents and other managers.

There sometimes needs to be a chain of movements to start before he can get in the player he requires.

There is no need to worry-this thread is a month too early for me.

Bearing in mind we have a transfer kitty of about £2.60 Im not sure what folk were expecting.

Is that 2.6M :)

We're about 6 years behind. There's not a single thing to be optimistic about. Playing in a pub league, no decent players, no hope of signing any decent players, no hope of offloading the crap and no end in sight till McCabe fucks off.

We'll be a mid table rubbing rag outfit next season, well done Blades, you've fucked up on a grand scale this time.

How do you work that one out? We've got the majority of last seasons team which finished second! Getting rid of McCabe wouldn't be the right option either because all our money is owed to him if I'd put 80m into a club I wouldn't be putting any more in!

I can only see a season of struggle ahead.
Wilson will be forced to rely on the kids & with no goals coming from anywere, i see us finishing mid table at best. Another season of transition awaits.

As it stands, we have no recognised keeper at the club, a half decent yet slow back four, in midfield we have just lost the best 2 players in McD and Willo the rest arn't really worth a wank, up front we are left with Creswell who is way past 30yr old and can only jog about for 30mins before blowin out of his arse and throw in a few kids to make up the numbers.

Yeah this must be one of the worst United squads in most peoples lifetime ........ yes even worse than the one that last dropped into division four. To be even competetive we need to offload Creswell, Montgomery and Quinn etc and bring in 6-8 quality players on realistic (for league one) wages. Lets be honest it is not going to happen.

If we had finished second we wouldnt be in this mess

Goalkeeper --- Howard or isnt he a keeper?
Lost Kmc and Willo?? have we ? have I missed summat

Really dont know what to make of it all. It just all seems a bit bleak.

Cant afford to bring in new players, struggling to keep the ones who have been offered new deals and will no doubt be vulnerable to offers for the likes of Quinn, Lowton and Maguire.

We know that finances will dictate our activity in the market (ins or outs) but from a football point of view, the only player I view as dispensable now is Monty, solely because of his assumed high salary and the fact that he hasn't been playing much.

I dont see how we can properly replace anyone else as we haven't the funds to do so. Absolute best case scenario from where I sit is that we retain Kmac, Willo, Porter and the rest of the squad and plug gaps with academy players. I dont see a better outcome than that at the moment and it wont be good enough.

£80m net? Don't think so. McCabe drones on about what he's spent from his vast fortune but we've never seen a clear account of what happened to the millions that came into the club - Tevez money, Premiership & parachute payments, several seasons of selling our best players and replacng them with average ones, high ST sales etc etc

And if McCabe won't put any more money into the club what is his role? He's barely in the county and appears to contribute nothing. He should write off the debts he helped create and put the club up for sale.

I couldnt see either Kmac or Willo signing on the dotted line until they had assurances about signings etc. If they had any inkling that we didn't have a pot to piss in wouldnt thety have been off? Maybe they both will be off and we haven't a pot at all.

I dont know what's the worse United's pre season off field developments, or the fckin weather.

Coventry sign Stephen Elliott and John Fleck according to Sky.
Ouch DW has been after Fleck since the Fax machine imploded.
