Didn't go and couldn't get to watch or listen. Wondered how he did that's all as I thought he deserved a start after his performance against Fulham.

Any glimmers of brilliance/hope from the lad?

He's not our saviour this season, but he looked alright. Needs minutes, was caught on his heels a couple of times but had a couple of good moments and he looked physically strong. I would put him about level with Don in the pecking order, but in my opinion he played better than Don has recently.

Perhaps with some match time he'll prove his worth.

Gave 110% and you can tell he is desperate to contribute, but strength, mobility, pace, and first touch are miles off the required levels. Worth a try but not the solution for me.

He's done at this level. He could maybe get a game at div 1 level if he gets fit but can't ever see him getting back to a regular player at championship level. I couldn't name any other club in the championship where he would even make the bench.

I'd say he looked pretty average. Battled away but didn't provide any real quality or goal threat. Maybe should have had a penalty 2nd half though

On a decent contract until 2020 so no one in League one is going to be able to take him in the summer (unless its Sunderland) or it’s on loan and we pay half the wages

No one in The Championship will want him either as he’s no longer good enough.

About as good as any striker who hasn't scored just more than a handful in nearly two years.

Still a very clever player. Some nice touches and turns but until his pace or at least sharpness returns he's not much of a goal threat.
I don't see why every player coming back from injury gets the benefit of the doubt but with ched we write his entire career off.

Wilder clearly rates him and likes his attitude and drive so unfortunately for some of you he's going to be given the time that he deserves.

He's 29 years old, in good shape (looks as strong as an Ox, not the liverpool one though) and has plenty of time to get fully match fit, given that he's had an injury to recover from this season and last, its no surprise he's not fully up to speed.

I assumed in the summer that it would be Oct/ Nov before we saw him anywhere near sharp enough, so given that he's only just made a couple of brief cameos since his latest op i think that whatever we see this season is going to be a bonus. Get him a full preseason in the summer and he'll be firing for the start of next season.

I lose count - will this be the third or fourth consecutive pre-season that is the only thing he needs to get back to where he was?

The money we've wasted on this guy....

As a striker, getting his elusive first goal could make all the difference to him and give him that extra confidence and spring in his step. We just need to look at Clarke and even Sharp as examples of how scoring goals can positively effect a players overall game (or negatively when they’re not forthcoming).

First game back on an awful pitch where only a couple of our players put in good performances, won a free kick just outside the box that was wasted and could/should have had a penalty. I'm going to reserve judgement. We also didn't play the usual high pressing game, whether that was due to his level of fitness or how Ipswich set up.

He hasn't been fully fit since he returned to playing professionally in August 2016.

Could be back luck, but his body may not be up to pro football anymore after so long out.

It's over 10 years since he looked a decent championship player and that was with Norwich.

I would be astonished if he does anything for us. But then again football is a funny old game.

He did really well in fact as well as Sharp did, no service from midfield I think he now needs to get match fit and he will do even better. I still think he could do a job for us and may still surprise the ones that have written him off all the time. I truly hope they have to eat an absolute shit load of humble pie

He was poor IMO, off the pace, slow to react ( had a couple of decent passes where he was caught flat footed) and slow running/chasing down.

If we’ve nowt to play for I’m happy for him to get a run of games to see if he can get up to speed...in hindsight yesterday’s start was a mistake.

I thought he played pretty well, especially considering how little service him and Billy got for the majority of time he was on the pitch. And the people saying he didn't look like scoring, no one looked like they would score

He was way off the Ched we knew. Tries hard but was slow, lacking balance and mobility (though it was a dreadful pitch) and was rarely on the same wavelength as the midfield. Having said that he was still better than Wilson.

watched on iplayer and i thought he looked an absolute shadow of his former self. There were several times where he was stood turning in circles to see where the ball was, i personally thought he was miles off the pace. Won nothing, didn't hold the ball up as well as Billy. if we are to move to next level we must off load players like this clogging up the payroll budget. i saw nothing to reason why he started ahead of other forward players on the bench

I think his only chance of a career is playing in Scandinavia over summer. He just needs weeks of full games to give him any hope of rekindling the form he had in that league 1 season. Even if it's at a poir level, it's the sheer game time.

He needs to start showing something, anything, that suggests it’s worth investing the time to keep working on him, as I think there will be a decision that will need to be made in the summer. It’s a very small minority of fans that hope he fails, and I actually think that fans have been extremely patient with him so far. Hopefully if he gets a confidence-boosting goal it might trigger some sort of lift in performance, because at the minute he is offering no goal threat – which even at their poorest both Donaldson and Wilson have displayed. I’ve only seen the highlights from the Ipswich game, and that link-up with Baldock was encouraging to see, but I did see his stint off the bench on Tuesday and have to agree with those that have highlighted that he is looking a more sluggish version of his former self. I frankly see more similarities at the minute to the Beattie we saw return to us than the Ched Evans we saw previously. He may get another good opportunity Tuesday if Clarke isn’t fit, and perhaps as has already been said an extended run if we fall out of contention. I don’t see him contributing much though in the way of keeping us in contention, though I’d be delighted to be proved wrong.

He’s painfully slow, but showed some promising moments. He needs a run of games, perhaps in the under 23’s to get that sharpness back

I thought he did Ok in game with basically zero service. He played as well as the others.

He was looking sharper with every appearance at the start of the season before his operation. He looks a good way off match fitness again now though.

He desperately needs game time and we desperately need goals so I'm not sure how that will fit in.
