How did C. Evans play yesterday?

That’s because he’s played more than the one game so we know what he can do which was exactly part of my point. :)

Or what he could do before being injured, some take 6 months to fully recover from Glandular Fever.

Though why we are even having this debate I'm not sure.

Chris Wilder picks the team, and we had total faith in him last season, has something changed.

I’m not fussed who Wilder picks, I just want us to get back to being more positive and quicker moving the ball like we did in the first half of the season. Every clubs fans and the media were envious of how we played in the first 4 months or so, it was a joy to behold, we were spoilt to a degree.

we were spoilt to a degree.

Exactly that.

Everyone wants us to run away with the league again this year and then next year in the Prem.

I think we did ourselves no favours going top briefly.

Many seem to think our 'drop' in form is related to Coutts injury, and happily fail to remember he was tranfer listed.

I think that Coutts injury affected our team balance and then our self belief.

The team is moulded by Chris Wilder, if he thinks Ched is the best option available at the time, then people should have a go at him.

He did fuck all, just like he's done every other game this season, barring one match in August where he scored against a team a level below us. Wilder's transfer activity has been spot on apart from him, and it's a huge, uncharacteristic bollock drop to give him the contract he's been given. For anyone to compare him to Sharp, Clarke, Donaldson or even Wilson is just daft. Blinkers are well and truly on with the We Love Ched crowd.

I was livid when we signed him. Thought it was stupid timing and took away the happy mood because we had to deal with all the press shite all for a player with a glass ankle who hasn't played for ages with a questionable past guilty or not.

He's a United player now though and can only judge him on now, not what's passed, and he was cheap and he really wasn't terrible so why not give him a chance?

He was better than Don has been recently, and he's an upgrade on Lavery and Hanson.

He's nowhere near a first choice so if he gets better or not it doesn't really matter. He's behind 3 or 4 now, and we'll get more strikers in in summer, we don't rely on him. If he sees a big improvement its just a bonus.

Needs more game time I think but he has lost his pace which is rather worrying.

He wasn't the reason we didn't score yesterday though. We started with a very defensive midfield and got what i expected we would get with that starting line up.

Well his re-sale value currently is next to nothing, getting him up to speed and scoring, his value goes up vastly, that is how business football, works.

Though if he starts to score then many will wish to hang on to him.

That is how supporter forums work. :D

Honest to goodness, I'd take Lavery all day over Ched. And Big Don's better - He's actually gone and bloody scored! Ched wasn't cheap. He cost half a million quid and God knows what his salary is, but we're paying it for 3 years. If he breaks through and becomes a solid goalscorer then great, but he hasn't done it yet, and he probably won't.

End of the day, he's had plenty of chances from us. He's played in 13 games this season and scored no goals. That's inexcusable from a striker. I thought he'd scored against Walsall but I just checked and he didn't! He's literally done 2 assists in 13 games. That's it. For a half a million clams. He's a big expensive yoke round our necks. Bollock has well and truly been dropped.

Lavery never looks like scoring and he's fit haha...

Don should be better but I'm just going on recent appearances. Add them together and £550,000 for 2 strikers that are half dangerous is alright.

Doubt he'll be on a high wage though, even if we did pay a fair bit for him, more than £0 but not appalling.

The Walsall goal got a deflection from his volley but it was going in. Bit harsh, didn't know it went down as an OG.

Anyway, Wilder will get rid in summer if he's got no chance, we gave him a chance to have his op and get fit so we don't owe him anything if he doesn't make it, if he does, as I said, bonus.

He's nowhere near the level we are/wanting to be at. No room for sentiment, yesterday there was times he looked like a pub player! I really wanted it to work for him but sadly it hasn't.

Where have you got £500k from?

Unless Leon is fit or Brooks is ready for a start then he should stay in vs Burton.

It’s harsh to judge a guy on no service on a ploughed field with the only chance a pass behind him where he could have got a pen on another day.

A start vs Burton could be the making of him.

So far he's been returning to fitness on arrival at the club and then getting over an operation. In the times between, he's been limited to the odd cameo role later in matches when our most creative forces were tiring or already off the field themselves. Hardly a fair test of the man. Give him a run of games with Brooks, Duffy etc in the side he'll get his fair share.

Money tree in the car park in bloom so soon ?

When a club buys a player, they bolster their fans egos by saying they have paid £10 million for him.

He ma look at how wealthy we are.

The reality is though that the 10 million includes his wages for 3 years. 10,000 per week for 3 years (1.5 million)

A bonus for playing X number of games, a bonus for scoring X number of goals and a bonus for the club being promoted.

So the headline figure of, whoo hoo £ 10 million pounds means we have actually paid the selling club a down payment of £ 5 million BOOOOO, cheapskates with no ambition.

With further payments due on number of apperances/goals scored and promotion.

Fact or fiction, what has Ched actually cost us ?

Wilder got this one wrong although I still don’t believe it was 100% Wilder Who wanted to sign him

Can't fault his efforts but is no better than what we had. In most cases you get what you pay for (unless lucky or very unlucky) .

I think all the evidence is pointing towards Cheds career being effectively finished. He isn’t anywhere near the player he once was, struggles for fitness, and every game I’ve seen him in since his return, by and large he has been abysmal.

If he was still the same player that he was 6 years ago, then he would have been a terrific coup, but sadly he is a shadow of the player he once was.

As much as I would have liked to see him do well and get his career back on track, I don’t think he ever will and I’ll be surprised if he ever scores in a United shirt again, shame for the lad, but there is room for sentiment in football

t was the figure widely quoted and accepted in the media at the time. Well, techically it's £550k

Widely quoted by a Chessie director with a big gob, trying to put a spin on it for their fans.

It was less than half of that, but included some add ons.

Wilder must have been lying then, when he said the signing was 100% his idea

He was.

Loads on here know better than Wilder and know with 100% certainty, it was KM forcing him to do it. It's basically a tax dodge to allow him to take even more money out of the the club.

Did he ever say it was 100% his idea?
Don't remember that.

From what I've heard re: cost, Ched's on next to nowt here...he's agreed to that because he wants to be here and prove himself.

If you're asking if he used those exact words then he possibly didn't. He did say that it was his signing though and that he wouldn't allow himself to be dictated to over who he should sign.

I'm sure you know this though and you're just being your usual pedantic self.

That old chestnut again Coco, when will you ever give it a rest

Right-o...just had a listen and he says 'it was ultimately his decision' if you want to be pedantic.
