How are we managing to keep clean sheets without Doyle starting?

You are joking

not really - we all know we could lose to anyone at Wembley - less so F'wood. Could come to terms more with that than Donny or the dingles.
Think we would step up to the plate this time, so if we got there I would take anyone, but not our S Yorks rivals.

I'm obviously coming at this from a similar angle but Fleetwood at Wembley would be the biggest potential disaster ever in my football lifetime. Would be great if we beat them (not that we've managed it twice this season) but defeat would be, well, I can't even think about it...................

Give me a dull MK Dons or Peterborough any time.

I don't know what would be worse, losing to fleetwood or Barnsley at wembley.

Might get a bit/ a lot of stick for this but Doyle would no longer be in my starting 11. Baxter and Coutts have complimented each others games as a pairing the best I have seen from any duo this season in the middle.

I'm not getting carried away by the fact we have beaten two average teams with them in the middle but I think Doyle causes a lot of harm on the pitch. His tackling is getting worse, he doesn't seem to care where he commits a foul on the pitch, we constantly gets caught on the break with him in the middle and he gives the ball away far to easily. For me as a backup I would have Doyle in the squad every game but as a regular starter he isn't good enough anymore.

That's a more measured reason than mine to drop him but I agree 100%

That's 2 wins without Doyle starting and 2 clean sheets to boot. When was the last time we kept 2 clean sheets on the bounce?

I wouldn't say the lynch mob are out, i'd say people are suggesting why we don't need him in the type of games we played last night which i think is glaringly obvious. Bring him on if we're 1, 2, or 3 nil up to keep things tight but other than that we don't need him in them sort of games and i've been saying that all season. Don't you think we looked better going forward last night without Doyle in midfield because i certainly did? This has nothing to do with Doyles' attributes either, i'm simply saying we don't need his attributes in the so called lesser games.
I wouldn't say we looked better because of Doyle's absence, we just looked better. You could argue we looked better playing 451 minus Done, I don't know.
I'm happy when we win well whoever is playing.

NO!!!!!!!

Three of the biggest games in the last 12 months (FA Cup semi v Hull, 2nd leg against Spurs and the PNE Manure FA Cup tie) he was a liability, truly awful and against PNE particularly horrendous – despite the pass to an unmarked Murphy for the goal!
Best result last year? – Rotherham win – no Doyle.
Best result this year? - 4-0 – no Doyle.
The bloke is shite – and what is totally unacceptable to me for a United player - he is scum.
I guess if Doyle is scum, that makes you a cunt. ( and I'm happy to take an infraction)

Doyle has the best engine in the team despite his age. He is the best talker and leader in the team. He covers more ground than anyone in the team. He is the most agressive and best tackler in the team. The best fighter in the team.

When we don't need all those qualities we don't need him. OK he's fairly limited with the ball but we have players who are limited in all those areas mentioned above amongst our set of lightweight look-alikes.

It was only when I read this for the third time, after I had choked on my half-eaten sandwich and nearly knocked over my tea mug, that I realised that you were joking !

What is totally unacceptable to me is how you can call one of our players scum?

Has Doyle done something to harm you? Has he stolen your Timex? Did he once give your wife a good seeing to that to this day she still recalls longingly?

We all take an irrational like/dislike to a player, but to call a player, any player, scum, especially when he's a Blade, well what sort of mentality is it that thinks it's appropriate to use that term? I'd suggest you apologise, but I doubt it would even cross your mind.

Doyle never was scum. At times he's been moderate to poor, even awful, but then there have been games, especially after his sending off against Fulham, when he's not only played well, he's shown he's deserved to be part of this team. Like many on here I doubt we'll see too much of Doyle again in a red and white shirt, but none of this warrants calling him scum. That word is deserved for someone who has robbed, killed, maimed, or generally acted despicably, so perhaps you can tell me which of those categories does Doyle fit into?

Agreed ..... Doyle is a very limited squad player, who gives his all and he would never be in my first 11, but he's not scum, in fact he's a nice guy.

Pigs are scum ....... or ladyboy scum

As I've said many times on this site, Doyle is nothing but a presence that's forces players wide, he rarely makes a tackle and if he does it's only to block a pass, that goes straight back to the opponent, and his first touch is so poor that every second touch is a diving lunge to retrieve the ball.

Can't believe this? I would be horrified if I thought Doyle himself would ever see comments and references like this. It is mind blowing.

He might not be your favourite player 'of all time' but to describe him as you [and others on this thread] have is frankly well out of order.

He has been a model pro, a leader on and off the pitch, he's a good bloke and his passion for the club has been plain to see. If this is how we have a go at OUR players [and for little or no reason] Christ help us.

I'm the one who started the digs at Doyle, but only on a talent level.
As for calling a disliked player scum, thats just weird. I reserve that word for rapists, terrorists and peados

each fans view is an opinion they have formed either on a player, manager or how the team is playing, these should be seen in a way that other fans can give there reply in a fair way, we are all blades together, let's not forget that

And let's not call a player "scum" without any justification. Blades together absolutely, but that crosses the line I am afraid. Bang out of order and greatly diminishes the poster.

I've paid attention to the posts concerning MiserableBlader's dreadful comment about Doyle as can be read in post #52. Upon reading MB's comment I replied, post #53, and suggested that an apology might be in order. I know MiserableBlader has been active on the forum since I commented, and he can't have failed to notice the prolific number of posters who've been appalled by a Blade's supporter calling one of our own players 'scum'. As I said, that awful and damning word should only be used if the target of this language has done something genuinely harmful to another person. The worst you can accuse Doyle of is not being a good player, but after the sending off against Fulham the man has turned in performances that have been a credit to him. He'll never be a decent player, but he's given his best, can't ask much more than that of anyone, can you?

I'm still hoping that MB will post an unreserved apology for the use of the word scum regarding Doyle. By all means retain your view that Doyle isn't very good, but please don't call anyone who plays for this club scum. Come out from under your duvet MB, man up, and post that apology as soon as you can. I'm waiting to see you act like a decent human being MB, not as someone who might be considered worthy of the term scum.

Calling one of our players scum deserves a retort in my opinion, I assume you've remonstrated with the other bloke too. And I think its cuntish to call a bloke scum who hasn't the right of reply on here.

I agree that a retort was needed, just not the C word. Lots of other folks on here managed it with far less aggression.

I haven't commented on the original post as everyone else has for me.

Gavlar, you've commented about the use of the word cunt - somehow the use of C seems to invest the word with an even seedier nastiness than simply calling it what it is - but I respect your view on this. I must admit, I've used the word on various posts, although I can't recall directing it towards anyone in particular (if I have then it shows what a sieve of a memory I sometimes have). It's a very personal thing, some people like it, others don't. I'll respect anyone's opinion about this, but flipping that over I hope they'd respect my right to use that word. I haven't used it towards MiserableBlader, I saw no point. But I think posters should be allowed to think for themselves, and, if necessary, suffer any consequence that they deserve. Personally, the use of cunt is strong but hardly worthy of censoring.

My post was not condoning another forum user using abusive words far from it, I ment everyone has a view and we should not stoop as low as that, sorry if it sounded like I was ok condoning it,

On a lighter note, said on the radio this morning that the lights were out at Hillsborough, no change there then
