Hoskins is a free agent now.
Worth a punt since this is all we seem to be in the market for.
Worth mentioning Chopra is still a free agent as well.
I'd take both of them.

What are their fitness level now? Nigel probably does know that they are not the same players as they were?I'd take both of them.

Chopra would spend too much time in the bookies..........allegedly!

What is Ched's fitness level? We signed Higdon with a question mark over his fitness.
Chopra has always been a dangerman (like Mendonca used to be) who knows where the net is, and Hoskins has a good footballing brain who is fathoms above McNulty or even Flynn out wide.

Maybe the faces of the players you mentioned "dont fit"? Hoskins had injury issues with us and SUFC will remember this also Chopra has a lot of personal problems that are well documented in the papers putting off many clubs. Are you saying that I said we should sign Ched? I did not know what Higdon was like before he joined us and wasnt for or against him signing for us. I just leave it to the manager and his advisors etc and then judge our signings after his first few games for us.What is Ched's fitness level? We signed Higdon with a question mark over his fitness.

Respect what you are saying here Silent, and I also acknowledge what others are saying viz "Two games in and we are finished?"
But, like most stuff in football, the actions in the last ten days don't line up with the optimism.
We are, like it or not, favourites to go up this season. I don't accept people underplaying our potential given we were (actually) down and out in February, yet managed to climb from 2nd bottom to 7th and put up a very reasonable shift in the FA Cup, for once turning up at Wembley and looking like the team I expect us to be. We have Cluffy as manager and given he has dropped a division, you'd expect the pairing of him and one of the structurally biggest football clubs in Div Three, everyone would be backing us to go up automatically, if not already promoted by April, then at least up in the top two slugging it out for who wins and who is runner up, not hoping and praying we make another disappointing playoff mission.
So the talismanic element of our club has gone, but we assume the embarkation of a wealthy partner the day after the transfer period finished might be a sign that real squad strengthening may be imminent and we might bloody well make it in the 2014-15 season. My guess is that Cluff believed it as well.
So the first two games have showed us what? We seriously underperformed against BCFC at home and were caught cold in key areas, areas that really, last season we were eventually strong in. City were not 'great', just 'effective'. SUFC were 'poor' in many areas. Then against the Stags the whole game underwhelmed those watching, even though we barely managed to beat them, areas that did need strengthening showed weaknesses. And then Coventry away again showed us as poor in the striking areas of the pitch, again by this game players who were consistently garbage last season are back to their old tricks.
I don't think the manager's judgement and strategy is in question here. The board, however, have failed badly to demonstrate why Prince Wossisname was brought on board and what 'game changing investment' actually meant.
As far as our game is concerned, nothing has changed, has it?
We have Peterborough on Tuesday - a team which ... okay doesn't have Assamblonga any more but ... will exploit every chink in our armour if we allow it to.

I am a bit concerned too, I was confident of this season especially half hour before the kick off of the home game against Bristol. When LSF told me of our line up, it threw me in a lot of ways. He and i were trying to work out our system from the line up. I was surprised that we kept the same line up yesterday. I am trying not to panic and give it a few more games. I always try to avoid player suggestions for many reasons. At 16 and 17 I was forever saying who we should sign etc but after all those years I now think it is best to support the management, his signings and his system etc for a good number of names before saying my opinions. For the moment I am impressed with Alcock, McGahey seems to be promising but so far Butler, Basham and McNulty have not really impressed me.
Agana joined us in February 1988. Deane joined us in Summer 1988, Agana was sub in first game of the 1988-89 season as Bassett decided that Deane and Joseph were the best pairing at the time. Joseph scored our 2nd goal but got injured immediately after his goal (he was out of action for the next few months) so he was replaced by Agana and he formed a good partnership with Deano that Bassett didnt exactly foresee!!Question for everyone, how were Dean and Agana in their early games, I can't remember.
In the interview post-match yesterday, Clough was fairly clear that he'd been offered Noël Hunt and it was a clear No on the basis he hadn't played enough recently - in fact responding to a question on why he didn't sign him by asking Giddens "how many games has he played in the last 2 years?" in a tone that suggested he was adding "you fucking idiot" onto the end of the sentence in his head. We won't be going anywhere near Hoskins for the same reason.
