THE FUTURE ... AS IT USED TO BE

The occasional Hollywood ball sticks in some peoples memory.
There are some - I remember him hitting a fucking worldie into the path of an advancing Baldock in the JS/BL corner a few seasons ago - which were breathtaking football. But that's just it. Space in front and an attacking advantage. This worked ace in the past also when Norwood got the ball because by the time he was ratcheting his foot backrads to hit Enda on the flank, Fleck and O'Connell were already moving forward to create the overload and the options. It worked and it worked well. Now people are applauding the pass, and its into nowhere. No supporting players, no route forward. But don't let that stop you applauding the pass. I mean, that's what wins matches. Occasionally Norwood will forget himself and look forward and pass forward to a player in space (Sharp v Plymouth in the cup) and it results in a goal. I'm just flummoxed at this blind devotion to mediocre play. If he had five goals and fifteen assists last season I'd be inclined to agree with people but he hasn't got that in him.
And then there's the pointing ...
