I am getting a bit fed up of what feels like every home game having some kind of deal. The latest being the Christmas deal where you get the 2nd game for £10.

I have always said I don't mind deals as long as it's not possible to get go all home games cheaper than what I do.

When do we get something back?

I think the club is getting very concerned about a potential collapse in attendances.

Let's face it the best we can do this season is avoid relegation.

If I was part of the club's management I'd also be worried.

I did have a season ticket for years and years until this season. I have actually been to most home games but I can't guarantee I'll continue. Let's face it the entertainment has been abysmal.

The issue for me is not so much gate entrance charges but it costs me just as much to travel there and back.

I've been attending for over 50 years now but I can see myself having a trial separation if we fail to recover our position.

I can see why they are doing it.

We did a calculation the other year when there seemed to be a lot of deals, and it was still slightly beneficial in monetary terms to have a season ticket.

Will look to get some details on it this year.

It's crap. As I said in the other thread, it's a big "fuck you, we've already got your money" from the club.

I dont give a shit. God luck to the club in doing what they can to get more through the turnstiles.

I paid about £300 to watch and support my club. Fuck all in football supporting terms. I'm happy to do so. I understand those who don't feel likewise, but not every season ticket holder is against deals, even if they would've been better off with them.

Hey I didn't know about that. Thanks for the heads up. What with the Boxing Day game being my free game with my membership n'all. Hey it's great this not having a season ticket lark. :)

Losing track with what's on offer. Will have to call the ticket office on the freephone number I have.;)

I have no problem if with all deals nobody could get in for less than the price I paid for my season ticket. They can offer as many deals as they like buy they are showing more loyalty to those who haven't stuck with them

Is that actually the case though? Do we know until the season ends?

As I say, I'm all for it either way, but I understand why some aren't.

Well we won't and Foxy will be checking. With Christmas games though we are probably looking at about 8 games where they have given deals this side of the new year. It probably won't stop me paying a season ticket but we need to entice people back in a better way, like a 12 month interest free deal. The finance obviously can't be taken up by all for bad credit or whatever, and now we have the cards they can put a block on them when they fall behind

Our season tickets are already very cheap though, in footballing terms. You can't (well I can't) knock the cub for ticketing policy over the last few years. It's the one thing they've got right, and why we can still attract almost 20,000 at the bottom of the third division.

Had a ST for years - and doesn't bother me in the slightest if the club offers discounts to non ST holders. The more Blades at matches the better.

They're just reacting ,like any "service" industry reacts, to empty seats.

You've shelled out the money to run the match, every empty seat is a potential £££ going down the shitter. Any seats you can sell that wouldn't otherwise be sold is straight into the pot marked "extra dosh".
Perhaps extra seats sold because these deals are on actually subsidise the season ticket price come April . . . . . .

I see the Pigs have announced mini season tickets.

I think this is an essential package that a football club should offer. It's particularly effective if it looks like you'll push for promotion (not for us this season, or the Pigs). However, it's a possible Christmas present and may well entice some more of the fans that have to travel from outside Sheffield.

Our club seems to have abandoned this approach, poor in my opinion.

Indeed. Plus I quite like bringing someone to a game for nowt.

If we're on about deals, I dislike the current practice of heavily discounting season tickets to current/previous season ticket holders. It may be a thank you to "loyal" fans but is hardly an encouragement to new fans to come every week. Besides which it merely means that the same people sit in the same (best position) seats and could well be the reason why the atmosphere is none existent most home games. All season tickets should be similarly priced and I have to say that at least one area within the ground (not just stuck on the periphery) should be unallocated seating.

Someone has woken up in our marketing department, I'm still not tempted though

oh go on, you know you really want to..... and if not i'll happily suffer in your place, as long as it's free :D

Does that mean you think my season ticket should go up because I've had the same seat since the John Street was re-opened? Or kick me out so a newcomer can sit in a better seat?

I think there should be one rate for season tickets regardless of whether you had one the previous season. Entirely up to the club at what level to set that rate. I also think there should be unallocated seating so you turn up on the day and sit where you can/wish to. Much easier to sit with friends who don't go every week. My ideal of course would be safe standing areas but the club has already ruled that out sadly.

I think there should be a discount for renewing - or certainly for renewing early. Particularly pertinent in seasons where we're in the relegation/promotion battles, and you don't know what league we're going to be in.
As for unallocated seating, I think that's rubbish too, unless you have a whole stand without ST holders. If you want to sit near friends, ring up the ticket office, and ask them to swap your seat. Done it before, and they've been very helpful.

I think after two decades of having a season ticket I actually am happy sitting where I sit with friends I have known for years and and I want discounted prices. Newcomers become entitled to discounts the second season anyway and they are the same discounts I get.

It's called rewarding loyalty

In fact, why not get a further discount for every, say, five consecutive years you've held a season ticket?

There have been times I've thought twice or more times about renewing and the discount helps especially as I have to add the cost of travelling to Sheffield and back

But at a time when new applicants for ST's must be well into single figures, surely the potential market needs the same level of encouragement as the exising?

I'd look at removing the price differential, but look to reward the renewers by adding value in other ways (prize draws for exec boxes, free programme, free tickets for cat c games etc)

I like the five year discount idea too.
