Will we still be interested in January?

Holmes 5 goals 6 assists already.
Leonard 3 goals Assists not quoted.

By comparison, albeit in the Championship, compared to L1:
Duffy 1 goal 4 assists
Coutts 1 goal 0 assists
Fleck 1 goal 1 assist
Stevens 0 goals 4 assists.

Holmes signed a 3 year contract last summer.

Cole at Fleetwood has scored 8 assists not quoted.

Always thought Holmes was a player we didn't need even less so now.
Leonard I'm not sure about Wilder was dogged about this but would not go above his valuation, which was lower than his value given his contract is running out.
Cole, the clue here was Knill saying he wouldn't get 50 appearances for us, so I'm saying no..
Sinclair, I think this won't be pursued again given the drama and also Sinclair's tweet after the event.
But you know Mitchell and the lads they are probably studying the radar for targets all the time.

I would look to get all 3 to be honest.

Think we can ship out Lavery / Hanson for Cole and Holmes (I know he’s not a striker but he’s a forward option).

Leonard to cover for everyone in midfield.

I hope we're still in for Cole as it seemed like he genuinely wanted to come

The other two seem like they're all but dead and buried really

Cole, the clue here was Knill saying he wouldn't get 50 appearances for us, so I'm saying no..

Knill was suggesting that if he played 50 times for us he'd be doing well, and therefore worth whatever we paid and more.

He didn't necessarily suggest that he'd be unlikely to play 50 times.

It was a spot on comment considering what Cole would be - a relatively inexpensive punt on potential.

Holmes - not needed, Duffy and Brooks on a different level.
Leonard - was played off the park by Ben Whiteman the other week, who is due to come back in January.
Cole - maybe.

what about Dan Burn.. what about Michael Brown. he could do a job :D

Cole - yes
The other two - no.

Cole is still very young and proving he's going to be a talent, someone who can progress with us and a different option to what we already have.

The other two would be good options but I don't really see them as necessary any more. Neither would be ahead of Coutts, Fleck, Carruthers, Brooks or Duffy and neither are competition for Lundstram as they're different players. Don't expect Wilder to be looking to strengthen central midfield in January, but to get to the end of the season confident in our options and then reasses depending on which league we're in. Attacking-wise I think strengthening to add some thing different in Cole is likely, unless the emergence of Brooks negates that.

Can’t see us going in for Holmes given he signed a new contract - that will have added a few £££ to his fee and seems we weren’t prepared to offer what wanted last time.

I would hope that the goalposts have now changed regarding investment and we are looking for Wilder type players at a higher level.

Not sure we need any of them. I'm thinking we are going to have a bigger budget come January. Wilder has a great record of picking up bargains and turning careers around but Cole is at Fleetwood for a reason. Now maybe he's the equivalent of Fleck and will easily adapt to a higher level but I'd be spending our money on a better version of Hanson. I've always liked Matt Smith and he scored a great header v Wolves yesterday.

I think I misread that situation your conclusion sounds more feasible, although I coupled my point with the intel (sorry can't remember who provided it) that Cole hit the target in 1 in 3 chances (during training) I'm sure he's still being watched but the asking price being in excess of a million may be an issue.

Strike force is a bit light so a yes to Cole. Ship out ched and Hanson and possibly Lavery and get a 'proven' scorer in

For me woody we've gone beyond all three. If we were mid to low table then yes all three, but as we have all seen we are better than most and no one in this league are proving to be consistently better. As a club, WILDER has moved the club and these players to a higher level. We now need a higher level of player to move us on even further. We have a team capable as it stands of easily finishing top 6 and we will never have a better chance of finishing top 2. The difficult bit is which 2 players can guarantee top 2. This is actually a big test for the management team as we approach the pinacle of English football. I'd be picking up the phone and asking S Dyche who appears to get his signings just about spot on.

What did Sinclair tweet?
After our guys had said he'd been waiting at the railway station waiting for his agent to give him the go ahead (to sign), he said he'd never been there and there were 2 sides 2 every story. He appears to have been told to wait at the station until his agents doubled up fee was paid, Wilder said 'no' he went home.

They dropped that daft asking price in the end and we agreed a fee, I think it was 200k plus another 200k based on appearances. We just ran out of time to complete the deal.

I'm not certain about his contract situation but I think it ends next summer, in which case he should cost less in January.

Even if that's wrong, for his price to go up he'll have to show excellent form.

If we're still up there in January then I think we'll be shopping in a different market.

Although I like Holmes, It would take an injury to Duffy or Brooks for us to be interested

his stats have dropped off in the last month, whether that's an indication as to how he's playing I can't say but I think Donaldson is filling the gap for this season. The only reason I can see him for still coming is that we don't find anybody else.

I presume most players coming in January are expecting an 18 month or a 2 and a half year contract or more? Where will we be next season, obviously nobody can be sure but if we go up we will want to look for far better players, if we just miss out same again, so the only chance is if we end up below half way, so my answer is no, maybe Cole, but hopefully we will be in a different position in January than last August

Leonard and Holmes are both not needed as they wouldn’t improve the starting 11 or even challenge Coutts And Fleck use the money to go get a decent forward to score 10/12 goals from January onwards to either take us up or into the playoffs

In the flesh, I've only seen Devante Cole once, that was when he played for Barnsley at the lane and I thought he was awful.

I remember watching his Dad at a similar age, again just once, whilst playing on loan for Bristol City against Utd at Bramall Lane and thought he was absolutely unplayable.

Personally, I don't think Cole Jr is an improvement on the personnel already at the club and we need to look elsewhere.

Holmes: Given our glut of attacking talent across the middl, why would we bother?

Leonard: Would take him on the cheap but as an investment, again why would we bother. We are very strong in midfield and he would be behind Lundstram in the pecking order.

Cole: Worth signing. He would have his work cut out getting in but his pace gives him a chance. It’s possibly the only attribute we could do with a bit more of. If we signed him and only him in January, I would be happy.
