Sorry if he’s not a good enough Wikipedia footballer for your liking. However, for those that actually watch football and watch United, you would see that he his big, strong, mobile and hard working. People quote his 1 in 4 for us as a poor return but lets not forget that he only played about 20 mins v MK as he was injured.

I’m all ears though if you’d like to present an alternative option to act as a foil for the likes of Sharp and Adams?

id take the big lad from Crewe to do that job

I hate to be pedantic , but I prefer goal scoring forwards who actually score goals
4 in 2 years fails to break into the prolific slot, or the full backs scoring quota come to that

let's not forget it's in the league above and playing mostly as a sub I suspect (he was at Brighton- not sure re Forest).

Surely he's got to be better than a piece of land in Crewe?

Let's face it - we sold or let go our England Back four..... Walker - Jags - Cahill [on loan] - Naughton ...
3 of them home grown and one we should have made permanent before he went on to [much] better things
You have to ambition though to keep your best players.... er sorry dreamin again

Sorry that would require some kind of planning for the future and mean telling other clubs to piss off when they put a bid in for our players.

It's an idea that McCabe does not seem to be able to get his head around.

From memory when I checked yesterday, he'd had 31 league games for forest. 15 starts and 16 subs. He'd scored once.

well lets look at the reality since leaving Barnsley end of 13 14

4 goals in 54 appearances
spine tingling figures
so if he plays in 40 games next season thats around 3 times we will get to jump up and down , cant wait

he makes Porter look like Ibrahimovic

Significantly more if he starts week in week out and is playing a league lower. Probably about 10-15 I reckon if he was playing regularly in league 1. I also reckon Billy would score more playing with him and that we'd control the games more and concede less.

Id have taken him when he was last available
in the same way Id have liked Higdon earlier in his career, Or Henderson
rather when the trundle over the 30 barrier

we brought Beattie back at that stage in his career, wasnt a great success as I remember

we dont need ageing players on their last hurrah

Kind of agree re his age. Last season when we tried to sign him at 29 (same age as the returning Sharp which was a success) I'd have loved to have him here. I'm still struggling to think of anyone we could sign who could play the role as well though but agree that if we can find a younger version, I'd be all for it.

its too risky now , had he been prolific in the past 2 years maybe , but hes shadowing Beatties demise
at least Beattie realised and went to Accrington ,

Higdon was the best signing Chesterfield never had.

Or Sod's law being as it is , Higdon bangs in 20 plus goals , Chessy play fully to his strengths and he gets player of the year award.

What baffles me is how players can become just utter shite when putting a Blades shirt on .

The good news is them who are going are utter shite , but have made a bloody good living at the Lane on our expense .

As you say , we missed a trick and they got a lucky escape.

He's not been as injury prone as Beattie and has at least been playing some football at a higher level. Though I agree, his age is not ideal.

Just read that the useless lump retired from football in October ...

You heard wrong, my friend.

Higgopotamus was last seen plying his 'trade' for Bangor City.

Subbed off after 71' minutes against notorious sleeping giants MBi Llandudno on 1st January.

You know what, I thought I'd heard he was playing somewhere, and was a bit discombobulated when I read he'd "retired". Thanks for confirming. :)

imagine if they qualified for the Europa League? He'd strike fear into the hearts of..........................erm...............nobody.

played for Bangor City 5th January 2017 in a friendly against Liverpool Under 23's - a line up with the likes of Sheyi Ojo. Crowd of 2006 and Liverpool ran out 0 - 6 winners.

Owners and shareholders in pie emporia from Biscay to Splijt ......... and, er, association football enthusiasts ?

Hearts have managed to offload Sammon quicker than we did.

Those poor Killies.

I don't hate him at all, there are very few people I hate, and non of those are related to a game of football.

He didn't shag my missus, he did buy a load of expensive and useless players that have/will take us two years to finally rid ourselves off.

I would have preferred he'd taken the missus.

?[/QUOTE]
Which would prefer Pete, a permanent or a loan or a pay per game basis?

As I have said before, Sammon's agent is clearly a genius. Getting him a 3 year deal after the season he had last year was more remarkable than Leicester's title win, Brexit and Trump's win combined.

I'm pretty sure the guy could get me a club!
