Can't see them playing for the blades again personally, maybe its time to get them off the wage bill!

Gillespie said he was gonna hang around until "the right move" came along for him.

I can see that being at the end of the season when he's available on a free so he can fill his pockets with a nice signing-on fee. Cynical, I know. That's just the impression I get from his recent behaviour.

I can see Geary returning possibly.

Although I agree with the rest I cant see any of them getting back into the side.

I can't really argue with any of that.

Hendrie was one I was advocating to take his chance this season, but the arrival of Howard and the qualities of Spring probably negate any chance he would have had.

Gillespie is too old to produce the displays he can for Norn Iron week in, week out.

Carney is too nesh.

I can't see Geary uprooting Naughton, SJH or Naysmith on either side of the defence. He also seems to be dogged by a few injuries. He's the one I'd be most sad to see leave but it's only fair that he be in with a shot of first team football somewhere.

I have to agree and i would also suggest that Monty may move on in the January window as i expect us to strengthen further in the middle of the park.

On the subject of players not featuring for us i find myself pondering the possibility that a decent portion of the Cotterill transfer fee may be dependant on appearances. It was certainly a protracted negotiation and if i recall the fee was undisclosed when the deal finally went through.

Perhaps this is the reason that Blackie seems reluctant to give the kid a run of games to find his form?

Was there any clarification why he failed to even make the bench at the weekend?

There were rumours around that Monty was close to signing a deal elsewhere some time last year but the club scuppered it.

Yeah, Blackwell said he was next to useless in the press.

Rumours are there will be around 6 leaving (although some may be on loan), with a number of incoming :)

Monty was indeed subject to solid interest from Premier League teams, the potential move was scuppered by injury and incorrect diagnosis from club staff :)

Rumour has it that one of the incoming may be from our unclean friends in S6...

I seem to recall that the club who wanted Monty may have been Bolton. Does that sound right?

Thought Bolton were after Morgan?

There were several clubs including Bolton. No terms were agreed, but talks were ongoing until it was revealed he had a foot injury which was initially "undetected" by club doctors.

Damn that foot and the club doctors! :)

I heard that Geary's career wont be long before its over really. Apparently he's got some kind of problem with one of his knees (or both), and if he carries on playing it will only get worse.

Sorry about the sketchy details but it was a few months since i was told about this, lol.

He struggles with an arthritic knee.

I mentioned it HERE a while ago, but someone who apparently stalks the players rubbished the claim.

As I said at the time, I thought it was a pretty widespread rumour that he was having some real trouble with his knee.

Yeah of those players i could only really see Geary getting a game.

Would be good to get them of the wage bill & get some fresh blood in (or promote some more reserve/academy players?)

i wouldnt let monty go. He's a battler who will stick his foot in and hang back. Only speed like that ATM and he's getting on.

I had high hopes of Hendrie, and after watching Carney I thought he too could shine. Shame it didn't work out, but if they do go at the worst we'll have them off the wage bill.
Keef's performances last season weren't much to shout about, as you would expect from a player nearing the end of his playing days, but good look to him elsewhere.
The one player of the four mentioned at the start of this thread I will be sorry to see go is Geary. He has always played his heart out for us, and if he ever came back to us playing for a different team then I would give him a cheer, regardless of who he was playing for. I also agree with Linz that if he's got the chance of first team football elsewhere then good luck to him.

Geary is a cracking little player but i think his time could be numbered with us at the moment, although i would let him go out for a while on loan i would also stick a recall clause in so if we need him back then we can get him straight away.

As for the rest, i think Hendrie is still a decent player and deserves one last chance and if gets back in he could suprise us.

As for the other two, Gillespie can't be arsed, and has not been arsed about putting in a decent shift since he got his new contract a couple of seasons ago, and Carney, well he is a waste of space and i would like to see someone kneecap him so we can get some of the money we are wasting on him back on the insurance
