My view is that he's a very good keeper who makes too many mistakes at this time in his career. He has all the tools to be a top keeper, just needs concentration now (which I do believe will come as he matures). The trouble is at the minute is he was/is being talked about as an England keeper, when the truth is he is nowhere near ready (his kicking is very poor). Do I think he will play for a team higher than sheff United, yes. Do I think he ready for that step up now, no.

He will cut out the mistakes as he gets older. Most top quality keepers get better with age.

So when a striker our any outfield player fluffs a shot or hits a wayward pass it's ok, but when the keeper drops a bollock it's unforgivable? We're all human, we all make mistakes. Hendo is just the last line of defence. The ball has to get beyond 10 other players as well.
Unfortunately when a keeper drops a bollock, it usually results in a goal.
We created enough chances to win 3 games today, and fluffed them all, now that isn't Hendo's fault.

The England keeper, Pickford, got megged by The Moose last week.

True that, and he'll come back stronger, just wish he was ours because all this learning isn't going to benefit us long term you'd imagine.

As a group we need to cut the mistakes but considering Norwood, JOC, Egan and Bash have all made mistakes that cost us a goal, bit harsh to round on Henderson.

His save against Salah was excellent, as was his positioning for a lot of stuff, I just really wish it was a worldy not a dropped bollock.

Can't believe the stick that some on here are giving Henderson. Yes, he was at fault for the goal, but he pulled off a fantastic save 1-on-1 with Salah when his head could've sunk after the goal, showed great strength of character and he'll come back stronger after this game.
I believe Henderson deserves the stick as any other keeper would be getting crucified for the mistakes he's made.
He made exactly the same error as today while playing for England Under 21's in Italy. Cost us points against Leeds and Villa last season and as mentioned previously, how many similar mistakes did Paddy Kenny make while playing in the Premiership?

He's error prone, yes, but he's a young keeper starting his first first-choice Premier League campaign. Errors are inevitable.

I said it after Villa and I'll say it again- he is England's future number one. He put in a reyt shift after Villa so hopefully we'll get more of the same in weeks to come.

The bottom line is he should have saved it and he is very much a work in progress.

Great goalkeeper, but seems to make errors during key moments in games, i.e. Leeds at home and Liverpool today. His kicking was poor today too. Deano is a great goalkeeper but still needs time and refinement to forfill his obvious potential.

Chin up Deano, he has the character to learn from this and bounce back ⚔️

Just seen what (French no.1 and world cup winner) Loris did earlier against Southampton. Think you should delete this thread, the point is moot. Keepers make mistakes.

He is not a great goalkeeper.

Great goalkeepers don't make the mistakes that he does.

Blistering from Chris but that’s how I see it too.

Also from Wilder on the BBC

On Dean Henderson: "If he wants to be a professional footballer, these things are going to happen. But if he wants to play for the top teams, he wants to play for England, then he needs to do better, he needs to concentrate more. It's a disappointing day for him. I am not going to put my arms around him, simply he needs to do better."

I don't think CW is too impressed either

Wilder tough love seen it before

Hendo’s first choice club is ManUtd. As Wilder has commented if he wants to play for them he’ll have to stop making that kind of mistake and he won’t be putting an arm round him.

if he drops a few more clangers, gotta seriously think about a January signing.

Thing is, there aren't many goalkeepers who are likely to join us and who would be suitable. Woodman at Swansea looks good (on loan from Newcastle) but he's young and could have the same, silly, inexperienced mistakes Hendo keeps making.

There were a few things that didn't go our way , the officials missed at least two corners that we should have had.
A cross that Robinson headed with the top of his head if he had left it McBurnie was unmarked and had a better chance.
Fleck had a decent chance to score but took an extra moment to get it onto his right foot instead of hitting it with his left foot.
That poor goal they scored wouldn't hurt when you are 2 or 3 ahead.
Unfortunately it just happened at the wrong time they looked frustrated and that goal lifted them.
Unlucky to not get a point out of a great performance.

Wilder is right. He cost us today and that’s it. Not a bad keeper but right now in the top league he is not outstanding. I hope he comes good. Let’s see. Great game and good day but just a bit of a kidney punch by one of our own !

Exactly. Live by the sword die by the sword. He wants to be Man U No 1. Wants to be England No 1. Gives it large about how good he is. Simply not good enough. I'd drop him. Before then he had to be bollocked by both O'Connell and Egan for positioning on through balls which by rights were his. Not impressed at all. For me to be more impressed by Lundstram has to mean someone is not pulling up any trees.

😂😂 what and put MOORE between the posts
His save moments later kept us in with a shout

Its his job to make saves. It's not his job to not make saves due to avoidable errors. He deserves stick. He has one job.

We were in with more than a shout before he screwed up. I don't want to be in with a shout because he's put us in a bad position.

I agree. Robbo had a great game today, but he isn't a natural finisher.

Great game you watching what ?
he was lightweight in every department
Put a couple of decent passes in in the first half had a shot but pulled out of three yes three challenges doesn’t show the pace or strength needed yet
Difference when Mousset came on was obvious to see - running into angles closing defenders down using his pace
Robinson’s had two decent half’s one at Bournemouth and one at Chelsea
But I still think there’s a very talented player there
