Help with watching Blades away

Watching a Facebook stream is fine, it’s the streamer that will get a ban but nothing else and that’s only if the game is on Sky. The law isn’t up to speed.

Not sure that is true. The same was said about streams via kodi - ie that only the streamers and the box sellers were of interest , but later I've read there were plans to nick those watching the streams as well.

I always watch away games in my mind. We always win.

I use iFollow fairly often, and I've never had any issues with it.

I don't even use a proper VPN like Nord. I just have a VPN Chrome extension.

Set it to USA, and sign up with your credit or debit card just with an American address. As long as you use a proper zip code you can make the rest up.

Works like a charm. It's obviously not Sky Sports Football 4K but it looks fine, works fine.

If I can't get to the game I'd rather pay the club, and while technically I'm probably not supposed to be watching it, I feel better about using a VPN than watching a Facebook feed, plus that group is a dumpster fire.
Hi bromtom,
I've downloaded a VPN chrome extension to change my ip address, I'm a bit worried about the data I would use when on the new ip address would I get charged for the data I use, I have unlimited data use with BT. I hope you can help.

VPNs can have limited data through but usually tell you, for example Tunnelbear has a free and a paid subscription. Free one you get 500MB of data, but if you have unlimited data you won't be charged by BT and you can't be charged by the VPN if they don't have your payment details.

Just to point something out, up until about september last year the european court had ruled that it was not illegal to watch streamed films or live football (to do with kodi boxes and adapted firesticks)but would be illegal to download films from third party streaming sites and sports, as you were watching live and the product was not being saved to a hard drive, only in a temporary cache. In about Sept last year the euro court overturned this decision and has now deemed it totally illegal to watch streamed films and footy games.
If you do a search you will be able to find both rulings.
right curry time.......

There comes a time when a man has to look himself in the mirror and admit that technology has overtaken him. That moment has arrived for me.

I signed up for I-follow thinking I would be able to watch all the games. I even thought I’d be able to watch them on the radio or my old Dansette. I later found out that it was only audio that’s available in the UK, unless I’ve got a VPL, which I don’t - I usually wear a thong.

My dear lady wife sometimes has a VPL, but of late, she’s not letting me put my fire stick anywhere near her Kodi box. So, I consider myself well and truly defeated which is why I keep watching the games live.

Nobody is getting their collar felt for watching streams or pirate movies, they simply aren't covered by criminal law. The only people who can be prosecuted in the UK for copyright infringement are those doing so in the course of business or causing serious financial damage to the copyright holder (i.e. someone filming a movie in a cinema and uploading it to a torrent site).

Apart from that, copyright infringement is a civil matter. Nobody is getting a criminal record for watching a Facebook football stream (having said that, if I was a person running a steam I certainly wouldn't be asking for "donations" or be trying to launch my own streaming website, as that nudges things towards being criminal/prosecutable, and at some point they will look to make examples of those who do. It really is a very stupid thing to do!).

Edit: link, from a real lawyer.

Interesting link though not really definitive - "unlikely to extend to end users". This one http://www.independent.co.uk/life-s...-crackdown-copyright-films-fact-a7809306.html says "authorities could soon target ordinary Kodi users, and not just sellers and developers." but is equally vague.

I'm not particularly on a crusade against illegal streaming, everyone makes their choice, but I just like to point it out that it's not necessarily correct to say that just being an end user of these streams is safe/legal. Depends how clever and discreet you are about it.

Cheers bromtom, I've download Browsec off google chrome does this app have to come with unlimited data, or will I use my data from my BT data. As you can tell I'm not a tec man wrong age group.

If it doesn't say anything like "499MB remaining” after you've used it you'll be fine. It'll always use your data. The VPN data is just a disguise for your data, so you'll use 500MB of your data but it'll be wearing a Stetson and a fake moustache to look like it's from the US if you get me.

I didn't say that. I said its not a criminal offence, and it isn't. You can view the criminal offences in the legislation:

Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988
Digital Economy Act 2017

Not only is it (prosecuting consumers of pirated material) not in the legislation, it isn't even in the spirit of it. At best you'll find a few sites suggesting those who use bit torrent might put themselves at risk (this is due to the nature of bit torrent, where the client uploads segments of a complete file at the same time it downloads the complete file from peers).

There have been no criminal cases for copyright infringement for watching a dodgy stream. There have been some well publicised civil cases taken against downloaders (usually porn). Even then, I'm yet to see one that wasn't uncontested.

OK fair enough, you seem more up on it than me I allus thought it was illegal to watch them. So why can't we have all the links to the streams published on here then?

Hi Bromtom, can you help me on how to subscribe to the match day pass. I go to the live match centre but I can't find any where to subscribe too.

Later on should say watch in the live match centre if everything is set up. Try about 2:30
