Hecky - Class Act

People in the game hear & see far more than we do and their opinions count for a lot more than yours or mine, certainly in terms of his future employment prospects. I speak to a number of owners, directors, executives, coaches & managers quite regularly, all hold Hecky in high regard, not least for how he dealt with what he had to whilst with us.

Leeds isn’t regarded as any sort of a blot on his CV because of the dreadful state of the place during his time there.
The fact he came to us to work in the academy suggests not many were queuing up to give him a manager job then. He's undoubtedly worth someone giving him a go now but I still am completely unsure if he's any good or not

Interesting to read that.

In my opinion , he had many good qualities on display with us. He got us organised, individual player performances improved and he handled the media well. There was some evidence that he knew how to organise the "club" as well , which I guess many owners would appreciate.

However, watching his teams for 2 seasons, there were also issues. His inability to change a game that was running away from us , never got better. Also, it did feel very much that he was doing well with someone else's team. Not really sure if the injury thing was down to poor preparation or training, or just bad luck, but they would be things I'd be considering if he applied for a job, both the positive and the negative

Overall GLTTL

Whatever you think about Hecky- you cannot knock his ability to talk extremely well. Came across in that interview as an astute intelligent thinker.

I don't care how the Blades Media present it- losing Ndiaye that late was insane- they should have paid him a few million to stay and he would have. In those early marginal call games mentioned in the interview he could well have been the difference.

I am/was heckys biggest critic i think he is a solid manager no great shakes who fell on a team that would have gone up under any competent manager

However, the fact he can barely get a bottom-half managers job in the champ is a joke, Bristol/Millwall/Cardiff/Swansea/Plymouth have all gone for managers who have never done anything in the Champ which i think is harsh on him

Contrast that with his bland post match interviews and the obvious takeaway is the blandness was down to him having to be very careful what he said.

As a person I liked him. As a coach especially academy he was very much liked.

As a manager did he have enough about him. Maybe not but he never stood a chance with the summer shit show.

He wasn’t looking for a job for quite a while before he came to us. But the point is, your opinion doesn’t matter, what does is how he’s perceived within the game.

Crazy looking at some comments on twitter that people still think Hecky is to blame for the way the season has gone. We still look miles off the level and are getting battered under a different manager. People have resorted to saying "we would be losing by more under Hecky" rather than accept we gave ourselves no chance of surviving no matter who was in charge.

Hecky will get a good job on the back of how he handled a total shit show here.

Lets hope that he gets such a job very soon (at least to ensure that potless doesn't do something stupid).
Like employ someone with a history of dealing with extremely difficult situations and getting positive results while everything falls down around him? All the while, maintaining dignity and always putting the club first?

Yeah, sounds like an awful person to have around

As first team manager/coach yes, as youth coach, then no.
