Hecky - Class Act

Who knows 1 day he might be back, the prince did say he would like to work with him again. Obviously the prince doesn't seem to going anywhere yet

One thing I don't get about some of our fans is they were saying 'Hecky you are shit get him out of our club' and actually calling him some disrespectful names. Now he has gone, we have the same people who disrespected him coming out with emotional goodbye speeches saying what a great guy he is. Talk about being two faced, unbelievable. By the way this was not aimed at anyone in particular, but you know who you are...

It was a shame to see him go, and actually wish he could go back to working with the development team but he probably wants a break now. Class post on twitter as well.

I cant say a bad word about him , Despite the relentless amount of shit he had to contend with he kept pushing us forward
Fate conspired against him as after achieving getting in the prem financial issues once again set the club back on its heels
had we kept hold of players and been injury free we would most likely not be where we are

he will no doubt do well again somewhere and I wish to get some of the luck he never got here

Hecky seems an absolutely top man. Would welcome him back one day. No manager is perfect and no manager can please everybody - he did really well to get us promoted.

Very best of luck to him, and many thanks.

Whatever the challenge, and whatever his own limitations, he maintained his dignity and professionalism to the end, under considerable pressure, in stark contrast with some of our players, managers, and supporters.

A huge and heartfelt GLTTL.

He was a class act and has been a very good manager for our club.

In my opinion the players have downed tools not because of Hecky but because of things going on at the club and Hecky has always conducted himself in the right manner when discussing the club and team with outside parties.

No one really knows the shit he’s been through but I can imagine an owner wanting to wind down their investment and trying to actively sell the club whilst not having sufficient funds to cashflow the club has been a huge challenge.

I just hope the slathering morons don’t let a couple of 5 nils and an 8 nil define a good managerial record over the last 2 seasons.

He’s been completely hung out to dry and the owner needs to shoulder 99% of the blame for what’s happened.

I do wonder how bad things could have got if he hadn't calmed the ship and then delivered an amazing season last year.

If another manager had taken over from Slav we could easily be floundering around and that transfer embargo could have really seen us stumble into trouble.

I wish him all the best, he gave us some great times when we could have been crying.

This season was always going to be tough and wish he had got some better performances so we could have stuck with him for next season back in the Championship but wasn't to be.

Hecky in the studio with Stelling and McCoist on TS.

Spoke well about us imho.

As the thread title says, he is indeed a class act.

He’s putting himself in the window hoping to improve his public image helping him be more successful in his job hunting.

He’s never going to slag off his previous club otherwise it damages his job chances both at SU and elsewhere.

Hecky is a good guy, a nice man with
class and still highly respected at SUFC. The Prince has already recently said he hopes to see him return in a coaching capacity (assume Head of the Academy again) to Sheff Utd and the door is still open for him.

Many of our fans said he would quickly find work at a promotion chasing Championship club but I always disagreed saying that Hecky’s only realistic managerial chance will be in league 1 or a struggling local club in the Championship like a Huddersfield or Rotherham. Don’t think his reputation in the game is as high as some Sheff Utd supporters think. Hence no decent job offers to date. Wish him luck and at least he’ll be able to return to Bramall Lane without receiving abuse like most previous failed managers.

He's always struck me as a class act as a person.

I hope he does come back in an academy role. I think the lack of decent managerial jobs he's been seriously linked with will have been eye-opening for him.

Gentleman. Definitely not a Premier league manager.
Maybe not a premiership manager but had the rug pulled from underneath his feet at crucial moments. I didn’t like some of his tactics/subs/formations sometimes but got us up and hit a brick wall at the beginning of the season and became clueless in how to stem the tide. The old mistakes not learnt from last time as buying‘hopefuls’ is a trait of ours.

Think he did an amazing job at keeping the group Together under extremely trying circumstances
Can't judge him on this shit show of a season but if the club does start to regress season by season I'd definitely have him. Back to Steady the ship

Correct, he’s actually not a manager at any level at the moment.

But he’s been a Premier League manager in the past, and to say otherwise is simply incorrect. You could argue the case that he was out of his depth, or let down by the machinations of the ownership, but he was a Premier League manager with us. Twice, in fact.

Would you eat a sarnie if Hecky was in the room and he was a PL manager?!

He has a very high reputation with the people in the game I speak to.
Doesnt really have a record to justify a very high reputation. Okay at Barnsley but bombed out at Leeds and Hibs and fair to say had a top end championship squad with us. I do give him credit for keeping the wheels on with everything off the pitch but I still didn't really feel we ever saw "his" side just the remains of a Wilder one

Saw him shopping in the big ASDA in Barnsley a couple of weeks ago. Didn't intrude on his privacy however.

On the job front, maybe the driving ban he's recently been given has something to do with it.

Did a decent job under the circumstances, never managed in the prem or possibly the championship. He's just basically a coach. Some of his tactics & substitutions were as bad as it gets for me on occasions, still feel he got out of jail with dropping Norwood for the run in last season or he might have blown promotion. Good job he did or we might have been staring down the barrel with Rotherham / pigs! This season.

People in the game hear & see far more than we do and their opinions count for a lot more than yours or mine, certainly in terms of his future employment prospects. I speak to a number of owners, directors, executives, coaches & managers quite regularly, all hold Hecky in high regard, not least for how he dealt with what he had to whilst with us.

Leeds isn’t regarded as any sort of a blot on his CV because of the dreadful state of the place during his time there.
