The players he managed were never a Premier League team in a million years.
Fair shout

To quantify, how many of our players would get into the team finishing 17, in this case Forest?

I would say only BBD and Hamer would have a chance of making the 11, maybe Vini & Arblaster might make bench

So we had a non EPL manager, in charge of non EPL players - proving a double negative doesnt make a positive

Oh come on, Spurs away they absolutely battered us, on another day they would have put 5 away we dug in deep with little to offer last ditch defending decent goalkeeping and crap finishing by Spurs - what happened after was going to happen regardless of the Spurs result
Well funnily enough R5L thought we were robbed too. You also missed the point. It was the mental thing about winning a game then seeing it snatched away with 37 minutes of Spurs added time that did it. Totally irrespective of what went before whether there were all over us or not.

Good luck to Hecky.

Thought he was a likeable bloke who stayed totally professional through this time here despite having fuck all resources and his best players sold.

Think he’s a steady coach who stabilised us at the right time.

Was going to say something similar. I get it was a big knock to the confidence, but fuck me, saying we hold on there and we don't finish as one of the worst sides in PL history is a stretch to say the least. We were battered that day and the signs were there already that the wheels were coming off...

Love the Ndiaye/Berge whataboutery others are spouting too... Hamer came in for Berge which was an upgrade (but don't let that fact change the narrative) and the fact Hecky had zero plans in case Ndiaye left is absolutely negligent. Ndiaye leaving was a strong possibility for 6 months prior, yet Hecky tactics seemed to be to put his fingers in his ears and pray ..

I thought he did a decent job after Slav left & given that The Prince was never going to allow Slav to do a big squad changeover….Hecky should have got at the start of our first season after relegation. If that had happened I reckon we would have been promoted that season.

However, he was a bit blinkered at times and kept playing Norwood for way too long in our promotion season. And injuries were his biggest issue….it will be interesting to see how the Preston squad looks by Xmas.

But I’m pleased for him & McCall, they are both good guys who deserve another crack at Championship level. (Way out of their depth in Premier League though)

i thought almost since he got the job. what a weird game the 8th march is going to be, i cant think of a manager that we still like as a majority & has returned as opposition manager.

as he deserves a hero's welcome out of the tunnel like any former player for the job he did getting us promoted & to an fa cup semi final. but he's technically the enemy

Good few wins recently has pushed them away from a relegation fight. 11 points from safety and playing attractive football.

Have a few friends in Preston who much prefer his football than Ryan Lowe’s. But the results aren’t as good. They more hoping a few windows and he may be able to build his own side and one day attempt to steal a 7th place finish.

But hopefully he starts with a good win Saturday.

100% this. He did a great job, and was set up to fail.

I'll be clapping him at the Preston game.

If we hadn’t been promoted in May 2023 it’s likely that we would have gone into administration and we would be nowhere near where we are now. I doubt we would be competing at the top of the championship or have the owners we do. Deserves a heroes welcome for what he did for the club.

Wilder was the last manager to come back like this with Boro

Why is it similar to this season?
Bang average Championship again, 3 or 4 teams vying for automatic, squad that is no where near good enough for Prem and chance of attracting Premiership standard players low.
Also how we grind out results against poor opposition is reminiscent of the Hecky era.

Oh ok, that’s a different look at it to what you previously posted about signings and sales.

We can’t do anything about the championship. It’s the league we’re in and all we can do is win as many games as we can to get autos.

Worry about the premier league when we get there but financially it’s a hard slog up there.

how he got us promoted when in January we were so skint we couldn't afford to turn the undersoil heating on. I always say like crazyblade1889 i dread to think what wouldve happen if we had failed, as i fear we would be back in League 1 after a firesale & getting embarrassed by arsenal was bad but its better than losing 5-0 to championship team
