Just think sometimes he doesn't get the credit he deserves.

When he came in for his first stint as caretaker he was on a hiding to nothing. We was rooted to the foot of the Premier League with a side completely bereft of confidence, and had to deal with the aftermath of a bloody internal civil war between Wilder and the board. 3 wins between then and the end of the season helped in a way to restore a bit of pride and he deserves credit for getting those win when it would have been easier to completely throw in the towel.

When he came in for his second stint, he inherited a team that had lost its way, and we looked every inch a team full of players going through the motions and who had downed tooled and was destined for 17th-18th. It wasn't his side, he picked up a squad of players who had lost their way a little bit, had been playing in a formation that was clearly not suited to them, and had been supplemented by a group of loan players who could be best described as journeyman and not up to the task (MGW). He didn't do anything drastic, brought in a coaching team who had been around, knew the club and knew the Championship, got us playing back in a formation that suited the players, and the results we're outstanding as we began to look confidence and surged up from 16th to end the season in 5th and narrowly defeated in the Play-Offs.

This season he has been clever with his signing and has used the money he was given wisely. Anel Ahmedhodzic looks a real player of quality, and he has bolstered the midfield and attacking ranks with some genuinely talented young players with a point to prove. He has given a pathway to the exciting youngsters in the club, and the start to the season has been better than I had expected especially given Watford away and Middlesbrough away are two very difficult away fixtures to start the season with.

What was pleasing last night is there a few passages of play where we looked genuinely unplayable, Sander Berge drifiting in and out of the box getting in to space and picking the ball up. Norwood orchestrating things and Sunderlands defence didn't look like they had known what had hit them, and we was up against a side who will beat more teams than they lose to.

I think he deserves credit as on both occasions he came in to what was always going to be a poisoned chalice. He's not reinvented the wheel, but just sensibly built on the foundations of what was already there. He's honest, up front, speaks sense and I find very little in what he does to object to. He is a serious manager and one I think will become a Premier League regular. I think he slides a bit under the radar because he has had a couple of failures earlier on his career but he seems to have the intelligence to have learned a lot from those failure, and I think he has got the potential to be one of the better managers we have had at the Lane

Seems to fit us fine, needs to get the away form going again with taking a few more risks as our back line is looking decent, move up another 10 yards and we look a better side. He’s brought some excellent signings into the club but they have to adapt to our style as Mcatee didn’t find it easy last night until the sending off, then a little more space opened up. He’s doing ok under a lengthy injury list, bringing young players on and sometimes football that belongs in the premiership, a long way to go and a decent start to the season
