Coming by road.
Do NOT USE M4/M32 route and don't try to negotiate the roads and streets of Bristol

YOU WILL GET LOST

If you are coming by road use M4/M5 southbound to junction 18(Avonmouth) then follow signs A4 Bristol airport
It looks the long way round but its quicker.
Parking is normally in the streets around the area as long as you are there by 12:30pm please don't block drive ways or park on corners.

BUT AND A BIG BUT,could I request you get the train ticket issued to Parson street as it push's up the footfall at the station, and its the same price as bristol temple meads

Till Ashton gate halt comes on line.
When you approach the ground from the winterstoke road direction I suggest you walk past wickes using the pavement
as the concourse area behind the big new stand gets very congested with bodies
UNLESS YOU WANT TO SEE THE JOHN ATYEO STATUE and Wallace from Wallace and gromit series
Split train tickets are available to Bristol from the London area and group save is also availble on GWR trains,
but not cross country trains
If there are at least three of you get a taxi from the Bristol Temple meads to the ground
Make sure the taxi driver drops you in the Ashton Road end as it a very long walk round from the other end
or use the brown buses from the bottom of the incline of the station at Bristol Temple Meads
Casualty and Holby City were filmed in the City don't ask me about either of the programmes cos I think their both rubbish
The young ones was also filmed in the BS7 area of the City(actually its Bishopston)
Finally the block of flats on the left behind the dolman stand side as you are in the away end is "the" block of flats in "fools and horses"
If your into your "STREET ART" there is loads to see in the Ashton area as we have just celebrated the upfest in BS3
Bring your camera and turn up early if you want to take any photo's
Pubs possibly best one are in the cumberland road basin area novia scotia pump house and the cottage.
Leave your car there and walk to the ground
Buy your match day programme before you enter the away end.
BBC Radio station is radio Bristol which has frequencies and 94:9 and DAB and 95:5.
until just before kick off when commentary will be Bristol DAB

In 2017/18 on the last day of the season 1,971 sheffield united fans visited Ashton Gate

A final reminder that there has been no pay on the day for any away fans this season or last season

I don't think that will be changed,so please buy your tickets in advance

Can you please circulate to other sheffield United forums and message boards

as well as other sheffield United followers

If you want any further local info, don't be afraid to ask.

I doubt I would get lost in Bristol my previous employers headquarters were there (the place where Holby and Casualty were filmed) spent weeks down there training etc, that and we do have sat navs up north you know not everywhere is like Barnsley.

I live near Bristol and would agree that the M5/Avonmouth route is best to Clifton or Ashton Gate. It’s the way I prefer to go, you kind of bypass the city centre.

Worth noting that there are no good routes in and out of any areas in Bristol. It’s busy and has some bizarre roads, so whatever way you go on a Saturday afternoon don’t expect it to be a breeze. Leave plenty of time.

I’m going. I’ll be there on Friday night, arriving from (near) London by car. Hotel booked and looking forward to the visit. Then onto Cheltenham afterwards and spending the remainder of the weekend in the Cotswolds. One of my favourite parts of the country (Cotswolds that is, not Bristol, although I do like Bristol as a city, Clifton is also very nice, but I don’t like Bristol City, if you know what I mean?).

Should be another good game! They’re a decent side who I think will be around the top 6. we’ve a bit in common. Bristol is a big city with two football clubs that can’t sustain life at the top level. City just pasted Blackburn 4-1 in their last home match.

3rd v 6th clash. Another top game to look forward to!

I like the get a ticket to Parson Street bit...Its nice to see someone who cares about such things.
You dont need to use it, just buy it!

The train is the only civilised way to get to Brizzle (IMO) only problem is XC trains are totally shit......
Thats why the Good Lord allows you to do the trip using different ways ;)

I have probably done the trip 200 times so I have some idea wtf Im on about :D

Good day out, especially if you're on the cider. Hotels tend to be expensive. If you fly in, it can take ages to get from Bristol Airport to the centre. Welcoming people, even their 'hooligans' are nice

Hmm good day out? . Not always. Remember the losers play off down there when we were relegated to div three over two legs? Lucky to come back with any legs that night. Got followed back to the car by some cider lovers and had to hide up a jennell in a very dodgy housing estate.

And when Robson was manager, dire performance. He stood motionless on the side of the pitch. I remember I had to go and have a word with him. Three actually. Clearly took my advice and went soon after. Didn’t Paddy deck one someone at half time?

But last season - what a difference, started the match like Villa last Sat, 3-0 up after half an hour (ish), nice ground great atmosphere.

And now we’ve got Ollie Norwood, yes it’s reight good, enjoy the good times Blades

How times have changed, obviously paying on the gate was a luxury I never knew I had years back.

!

We’ve very little in common. Bristol City are a small club and Bristol Rovers a negligible one. The combined attendances of the Bristol clubs are less than half of those of the Sheffield clubs.

Bladey Inferiority Complex at its unctuous best.

I'm really, really struggling to see anything inaccurate about Cerberus' post to be honest!

He disagrees with people for the sake of it. He always knows better remember.

YOU WILL GET LOST

It's true. I came down here for one of the early matches of Robson's tenure, got lost, and I'm still down here.

You're definitely best to avoid the town centre, particularly if your satnav isn't up to date. They've made loads of changes to the town centre, partially to accommodate a new guided bus system, the construction of which is making the chaos when we built supertram look efficient. They've built a new flyover for the bus near Ashton Gate, then apparently bought the bus, trialled it, and found it doesn't fit on the flyover.

The underlying theme was inaccurate. Obsequious cap-doffing of minor football clubs. It's the Bladesfans' Way.

Bristol City. Bristol Fucking Rovers. Dear, oh dear.

:D That’s the first time I’ve ever been accused of having an inferority complex. It’s very encouraging and I shall try and develop it further. Although I’m not worthy.

(Wow! It’s working already!).

As a Bristolian for the last 31 years since i moved from Sheffield I can honestly say you must be a numpty to get lost from the M32 going to the well sign posted sty that is trashton gate.

I adopted Rovers as my second team when I moved down here so I will LOVE IT, repeat LOVE IT, beat them.

In other news I dont think I can get a ticket as they dont go on general sale til the bloody 10th.

Thinking of it as closest place for me.
Anyone know when they on general sale and how many we been allocated ? UTB

Always enjoy visiting Bristol, was there on Saturday night, in Bradley Stoke at a party.
Also in the past I spent a couple of years working for a company based opposite the UWE.
One of my kids lives there and works for the NHS at the childrens hospital.

I’ve heard that too. Mate of mine got smashed in the head by a Brizzle hoolie with a baseball bat. Afterwards he offered him an aspirin and a plaster and gave him comprehensive directions to the A&E at Bristol Royal Infirmary! Respect!

Bit harsh Pinches. It's a big city but they just don't have the passion for football that people have up north. Where I live, south of Bristol, 99% of the golfers at my club would say they are City fans but they hardly ever go, not even for the glory matches. The only Rovers fan around is the woman who works in the bar and she gets 1/100th of the banter/abuse she would in the same situation in Sheffield. Folk round here are at least as interested in egg chasing, lots of them were off watching Bristol play Bath the other night, I don't even know what the competition was. I do like cider these days though.

You would be a member at Knowle then Northsomerset? I am at Henbury, we have a decent number of Gas and City fans, some of whom actually go to games, mostly though, as you say, they prefer rugby.

If you can be arsed, have a look a Henbury Golf Club Facebook page, there is a mildly amusing video of “The friends of the Blades” doing The Yorkshire Haka (which I nicked off YouTube) prior to our golf match with Henburys City fans before the televised game last year.

I am sure I could have posted it on here but don’t know how

Should have built a hole in the road ;)

I'm a member at Mendip Spring...I've played Henbury a few times as society days...did I speak to you out on the course one day a few years ago when you were wearing a blades badge?

Done the Bristol Golf Course at Almondsbury a couple of times, just for fun, takes me ages to complete a full 18 hole course. I am rubbish at golf.
