I'm a member at Mendip Spring...I've played Henbury a few times as society days...did I speak to you out on the course one day a few years ago when you were wearing a blades badge?

If that’s the new series of Peaky Blinders I’ll be honest and say I’m not looking forward to it.

Mine on the way ticket office says not many sold up to now, working in nailsea so catching bus from here, anyone know decent away pubs ?

Why does Bristol have a Wallace statue? I thought the guy was from Preston and learned his trade in Sheffield?

:D That’s the first time I’ve ever been accused of having an inferority complex. It’s very encouraging and I shall try and develop it further. Although I’m not worthy.

(Wow! It’s working already!).

Still trying to get my head around it CB :)?

You mean Nick Park? Maybe so but he's gone native. Nobody is getting Wallace and Gromit off Bristol now

Yep I will be there with my brother. Aggregate age 95 - same as our strike force.
Always like to see us score 3 and Ashton Gate often obliges. Will be on the lookout for pints of Tribute.

UTB 3-1

I live near Bristol and would agree that the M5/Avonmouth route is best to Clifton or Ashton Gate. It’s the way I prefer to go, you kind of bypass the city centre.

Worth noting that there are no good routes in and out of any areas in Bristol. It’s busy and has some bizarre roads, so whatever way you go on a Saturday afternoon don’t expect it to be a breeze. Leave plenty of time.
Same advice from me as last season is leave M5 at J19 Gordano services, take left on A369 towards Bristol for 5 miles(10 min drive), straight on at all traffic lights and eventually down a steep hill then parking is on the left, pint at the cricket club and away end is 5 min walk away. Parking is usually £5 (was last time we played them). Problem with J18 and A4 is there are loads of speed cameras and speed limits change to try and catch you 30/40/50 (and might be 20 mph in some places!).

Hoping for a repeat of the first 30 mins last game of season, fantastic support as ever - nothing game, last match of season, 12.00 kick off, bank holiday weekend, sunny, on a Sunday ...and 2000 Blades there, Sir Chris demanding a performance, loved it !

Remember the losers play off down there when we were relegated to div three over two legs? Lucky to come back with any legs that night. Got followed back to the car by some cider lovers and had to hide up a jennell in a very dodgy housing estate.

I went to that game. I was living in Clifton at the time so it was 15 minutes' walk from home. The way back felt quite a bit longer than that, as I tried to avoid opening my gob and giving myself away.... The final game of the Bassett 3rd division promotion season was marred by serious trouble as well, I seem to recall the coaches got bricked and some poor Blade was stabbed in Greville Smith park before the game.

Been working mon-fridays in Bristol. Had 2 work wk end of the champions league final. Me & my lad Blades. Went out down 2 harbours ice sports bar watch game. Said 2 lad are we in Bristol or fuckin Liverpool. It was embarrassing b4 game everyone in bar were up singing walk on with all Liverpool shirts on. Lol soon as they went behind young Bristol lads started singing Bristol city songs. Said 2 lad makes you realise how good it is 2 live in Sheffield, and 2 be a Blade.

Yes I remember that Bassett game, it kicked off big time after the match in that park just north of the ground, rival fans chasing each other all over the place, quite nasty, them lot started it but only when they out numbered us. Watch out for the same for those walking back to the Nova Scotia area on Saturday.

We’ve very little in common. Bristol City are a small club and Bristol Rovers a negligible one. The combined attendances of the Bristol clubs are less than half of those of the Sheffield clubs.

Bladey Inferiority Complex at its unctuous best.

i think the idea was that of respect mate not the cap doffery you seem obsessed with

I know the scale of the clubs are different but I think the Blades would have more in common with the Gasheads.

He's worked in Bristol for years fella. Wallace and Gromit are as Bristolian as the suspension bridge.

Cheers. Someone above beat you to that. TBH I just assumed he'd moved on to London (as many in the industry tend to do).

we’ve a bit in common.
- Bristol is a big city
- with two football clubs
- that can’t sustain life at the top level.
- City just pasted Blackburn 4-1 in their last home match.

Biggest team with bigger crowds play in red & white.
Other lot are inconsequential and play in blue & white.

Bring your camera and turn up early if you want to take any photo's

Just to clarify for anyone wondering, there will be no point during your visit to the southwest where you suddenly think, I wish I'd got here a bit earlier to take some photos.

I used to work with a born and bred Bristolian, lived there 30 years.
Then he moved up north, living in Rotherham but working in Sheffield for 10 years.

We’ve talked about football several times and he said Sheffield and Bristol are very different.
Said that some people in Bristol are very passionate about football but they’re in the minority.
Said that rugby union is the traditional game in that area and has a similiar and possibly bigger mainstream following.

He said that in Sheffield football is not a minority sport as everyone seems to have some interest in either United or Wednesday.
Basically said that Sheffield is a traditional proper football city where as it’s not such a big deal in Bristol.

I have relatives in Plymouth and spent loads of time living down there.
Their fanatics are as passionate as ours but talk to loads of random people in a bar and most Plymouthians aren’t that bothered.
Plymouth is a traditional rugby union area too.

Suppose to similiar to football/ soccer in the US. There are plenty of really passionate fans in all the major cities, so that’s a positive for soccer in the US but ask a normal man or women in the street and they’ve little interest in soccer, it’s still not gone mainstream in that country.
