well said mate they can not remember that far back and who picked this club off it's arse and took it to the promised land .Who do they think would be better than Wilder to get us back up if the worst happened working under the same financial restrictions .

Not trying to clutch at straws I am an analyst by nature. This teams form is the worse we have had ever in opening a season. Frankly shocking.

The mistake you are making is relying on a 1990 type turnaround. It aint gonna happen. Reason = lack of goals.

We hadn't scored many goals back then .But then burst into 3 and 4 foal scorelines

Well I hope it turns round soon too, but each game we dont win means it becomes ever more difficult to get the points required.
 
I do not want Wilder to leave he has done a v good job and provided us with not only premiership football, but entertaining premiership football.

He has been backed with more money than any of us expected and unfortunately that is where it has all fallen down. When given decent money to spend He has not bought the right players, for the right positions for the right valuations. Bargain basement players who have been developed and bought into our tactics and team spirit but with the exception of Berge any signing since Egan has not really been value.

If I were the Prince I would be worried, he is here for the long term and has bought other clubs, yet his jewel in the crown is SUFC and he surely cannot afford for us to be relegated. He has backed his manager yet it is obvious money has been wasted.
We have had more than our share of bad luck with refereeing decisions
Missed some v good chances
Had a v unfortunate run of fixtures where we have played the better quality teams and subsequently are now in a position where we have to improve.

If we do not I can only envisage that things will get twitchy, it is a business, a results business and it has to improve, if not I can see Rip Van Winkle having a bigger input and Wilder will not like that.

Hopefully with a fair wind we can get at least three points out of the next two matches, need something soon not so much to increase our points tally but to give the players confidence

38 points more or less assures safety
So any team going into the last 10 with only 8 points could in theory win 10 and stay up.
There's 90 points to play for .There's lots of time to turn things round

Completely agree with this, bertieblade.

If anybody thinks that the directors will not be getting twitchy, they are naive. Relative to our wealth, the club has invested substantial amounts of cash in the past 16 months. We haven't 'done a Norwich' and tailored our spending to prepare for a soft landing in the event of relegation. Relegation for us would be very damaging.

And the gaffer will be more aware of that than anyone. It's hardly surprising that he looks care-worn. As Chris frequently says, he's not bothered about what has been achieved in the past - it's about the here and now and he is a 'here and now manager'.

We absolutely do need some points soon, to get a bit of the old confidence and attitude into the players. At the moment, in the 'here and now' there is no evidence whatsoever to believe that we are capable of beating anybody in the division. We'll compete and give them a game, of course, but we don't have the tools to win games.

I certainly cannot see any basis on which you could make a case that we will beat West Ham. A team that can't score and can't keep a clean sheet against a team, from what I have seen of West Ham, that has players in numerous positions who are capable affecting games with goals even when they have very little possession in games.

Clearly it sounds to us (especially the old-timers) like 'loadsa money' but in the real world of the modern Premier League how 'decent' is the money in his transfer and wage budget?

That is correct.

In that opening 16 game winless run we only scored 7 goals.

At one stage we went 7 consecutive league games without scoring. Vinnie Jones ended that run at Villa Park. It was greeted like an FA Cup winning goal. I have seldom been in an away end that celebrated like we did when that header went in.
